Trash, run while you still can!
Unfortunately, only a few people will read this: The game is very good, the champions are creative, and you can experience entertaining and intense gameplay. However, the matchmaking system is rotting it from the inside and creating a toxic atmosphere. The game is enjoyable up to Platinum rank, but after that, hell begins. This is because, at the start of every season reset, everyone gets placed in the Platinum-Emerald-Diamond elo. Both the game’s pro elite and beginner players are thrown together. The system ranks players based on performance using MMR points and creates teams accordingly. For example, the matchmaking system might say, “I’ve found 10 players, and their total points add up to 10-10, so this is balanced on paper.” In reality, this looks like one side has players with 3-1-2-2-2 points, while the other side has 5-2-1-1-1. Both add up to 10 points, but it means Team A is roughly at Emerald level, while Team B consists of lower elo Platinums, with a duo premade Master player paired with an Emerald. The result is that the more skilled player will completely dominate the other team. If your stats are slightly better than average, the system constantly overvalues you and gives you teammates with weaker performance, forcing you to endure streaks of losses. This generates such frustration within the player base that, based on my 20 years of gaming experience, it might be the most toxic community I’ve ever encountered. Riot support responds with copy-paste messages, making it clear they handle issues superficially, feigning sympathy even when asked specific questions. Every patch is exclusively about new skins. Overall, the game is intentionally toxic, psychologically traumatizing players with losing streaks to encourage them to reward themselves by purchasing skins. This behavior and the deliberate generation of frustration in players who just want to relax should be legally punishable. Instead, they are pitted against each other. Run while you still can!
