I’ve used a few of the popular strength training apps and this one is better than the rest.
It’s easy to use with a great and beautiful interface plus a rock solid and simple watch app.
My favorite part of Liftin’ is its ability to configure progressive overload to work how you want. You tell the app what equipment you have as far as weights and then you can program exactly how and when the app should automatically increase your weight for the next time you do that exercise. It’s great and it’s exactly how this should work. It takes your actual successful lifts and builds over time without you having to manually do it. Of course, this is optional, but it’s awesome.
I finally found the one
I’ve used many apps to track workouts like strong, workout, strong lifts etc and they all had an issue. Either bad UI, not flexible with custom workouts, forces things etc.
This app has it all!!
I can create plans, and have routines, it knows what’s next, has Apple Watch integration that actually works, and tracks calories burned better than most, for example storing always say I burned 700 calories which is insane!, it can create custom exercises and assign different equipment, choose main and secondary muscles, choose plates and weights, choose to do range vs explicit reps, like it has everything a lifter needs!!
I love it so much, thank you for creating it!
Nice simple tracking app
I like it a lot for the tracking and timers. I haven’t upgraded yet but I think I will be forced to do so after one more work out
I find navigating the preset workout hard. I’m doing the push pull legs. I populated the workouts within that program. But now I can’t figure out how to delete or swap out an exercise within the pull program for example
Overall much better than the other super loaded with features you don’t need or use apps out there.
Hidden Gem
Have used many workout apps over the years with Strong most of those years, but then stopped getting updated and the newer version was not ideal. Then tried Hevy which seemed like a popular successor but lots of little oddities. Then saw someone mention Liftin and my mind was blown. It was like Apple designed it and constantly updated with new iterative real world improving features. Support is mind blowingly amazing where bugs are resolved in real time. How this is not the most popular iOS lifting app is mind boggling and hopefully gets an app of the year design award and then becomes massively popular because it’s an absolute dream.
Everything you need
This app is easily my favorite workout tracker. It’s the perfect balance of simplicity and breadth of features.
I don’t write reviews normally but I had to for this app
Easily would give 6 stars if I could. Perfectly tracks my workouts and is very affordable. Compatibility between the phone app and watch is absolutely phenomenal. Very simple and easy to pick up. If you don’t think this app has it then look again because you can probably add your workout yourself. I’ve been using this app for about 5 years now and it’s hands down the best I’ve ever used. If you’re debating getting it, let this be your sign to get it. Only complaint I have is very small. I wish there was an option to turn off linked workouts overall because I do a variety of workouts on different days and I don’t want to have to remember to take off linked tracking but other than that small thing I love this app!!!
Simple and effective
I've tried several weight lifting apps and this one tops them all. It's simple to use while I lift. I like how it calculates my warmup sets for me and adds or reduces weight automatically depending on my performance. Keep up the good work!
This app is amazing. I gave it 4 stars because it is not flawless.
First and foremost, I love this app. When you select your workout on the iPhone and start the workout, you can just put your iPhone in your gym bag and follow your work out on your apple watch. You can easily make changes to sets, rest time and everything all on your apple watch as you go through your workout without skipping a beat.
One thing I hate about alot of these apps is that they only offer you a subscription to use the app and the app is not even a good one. This app does offer a subscription to use the app. But it also gives you the option to just buy the app with a one time purchase.
The one time purchase was a whopping $99. I don’t a problem with what a app decides to put as their one time fee charge as long as it does give you that one time fee option. It should be a standard procedure to give a one time fee option. With that said, $99 was worth paying for me because I work out 4 to 5 days a week and am what you would call a gym junkie.
Now for our pros and cons.
Pros:
It keeps track of the calories you burned with your workout and sync that with your health app. Which is good for me because I am trying to maintain my weight and gain muscle mass so I need a certain amount of calories each day to do this. The calorie app that helps you do that gets updated as well and adjusts the amount of calories you need for the day in order to meet your goal weight goal. I love that!!
It keeps a running track of how many reps you did in your sets. You can see what your improvements are in comparison to the week before or the last time you did that exercise.
When you're creating your workout, It allows you to create an exercise that is not listed like “Snatches” for example. You would be able to select what kind of equipment you use to do the workout and what the name of the workout will be. It also gets added to the list so you can easily select it for different exercise later.
You can set the amount of weight you use to do the workout with on each set and adjust the weight change as you go right on your apple watch.
These are the Cons. They are for the developers to make the app better.
Cons:
Biggest and most important con:
It crashes from time to time on the Apple Watch when you finish a set and update it. As soon as the timer starts the countdown for you to do your next set, it will crash the timer when your heartbeat updates. Developers, please fix this glitch. It is so irritating when it does that.
I usually just sta
Designers don’t get it
This app labels a workout where you work to failure before your target reps as “Failed.” But this is a goal for some of us. Once we get all 3 sets it’s time to up the weight.
This doesn’t decrease the usefulness of the app. But it is a little soul-sucking.
Liftin’ is the best choice. That’s it.
I’m down 20lbs this year. & Liftin’ really helped me accomplish that. I set up a custom routine modified from one of the built-in routines & everything just works. There’s so much that it does, my favorites being automatic progression by sets (not weight!), exceptional syncing between my watch and phone, progress photos, plenty of customization options, body measurement tracking, and so much more. I bought lifetime & haven’t looked back. I really can’t say enough good things about Liftin’ except that this is what an app is meant to be, perfectly functional, advanced features, consistently developed, and beautiful. Excellent job to the dev who was also super responsive when I asked a question about the app’s functionality.
