Truly life-changing for a new mom
Very practical app which consists of everything a new mom needs: to track live pumping activities, log breastfeeding schedules, user manuals and tips. It’s super seamless for me to set up and use, I only need to turn on my Bluetooth and press the power button on my Medela pump and they automatically connect. I have used pumps from other providers before and the app or the pump is very underwhelming in comparison to the experience I had with Medela. My only request I wish to have for the future upgraded version is the ability to record the milk amount in the pumps automatically in the app instead of the existing manual entry.
Good for tracking baby activities and mom’s breast pumps
The app is generally good for tracking baby activities and mom’s breast pumps. It could be better if user can add a new Medela breast pumps besides only those have bluetooth connection.
I can’t connect with swing maxi
I can’t find swing maxi when chossing machine to connect.
Cannot connect Bluetooth to Swing Maxi
I owned the Swing Maxi Breast Pump (with Bluetooth version)
When opening the Medela Family App, click to Pump Settings to add my new Swing Maxi connected to my mobile phone. However, the Medela App only shows 3 models: Flex Hands Free, Flex, and Sonata. I can’t find Swing Maxi
Please fix urgently!
Great app
This is a great app but I’m having issues with the pumping data. I gotta manually connect pump every time before I start a new pumping session to get the data to transfer over from the pump to the app so it is difficult to keep track of how much I’ve pumped
App needs work
I’ll start with the good things.
I love that my husband can help me out by logging data points with the caregiver feature. Thats literally a God send. 🙌🏼
The ability to track pumps is handy however I wish it was the old tracker version where you can log milk quantities in tenths versus fourths. It’s just less accurate.
I love the dashboard view so I can see an overview of all the things I track daily. I wish you could turn off trackers so you could only view the trackers you use. But that’s just me being me.
The diaper tracking set up is good. I like how you could add a photo in case you need to share it with your baby’s provider or whatever the case maybe.
I love that you can add photos to the app to share with the caregivers. I can see how that would be handy if you had to go back to work and wanted the baby’s caregivers to add photos for mom and dad to see while away from baby.
Here are my problems with the app.
I have two Bluetooth pumps (Sonata and the Freestyle Flex) and neither of them can pair with the app without it telling me the time and date are invalid. I have to delete the app and redownload it before repairing the app and hoping the pump remembers the session. The older app versions had no issues with my Sonata (I used the Sonata in 2018-2021). The newest version does. My Freestyle Flex also can’t pair with it for the same reason. And yes I’ve tried only pairing one pump at a time and it still doesn’t function.
As an oversupplier, I block feed and the breastfeeding tracker will NOT track one sided feeds. Even if you use the timer. It automatically assumes you split the time between the two boobs after you’ve used the timer on one side only. It’s frustrating. The old app would ask if you sure you only fed on one side and told you that it’s recommended to feed from both sides which was also annoying but manageable. The only work around for this is to log one second on the side you didn’t feed on because the app will not allow for one side to have no time tracked for it. They have to both have some sort of timeframe for the feeding hence the one second.
The virtual milk shortage will also not allow for you to track milk for both your fridge and freezer in the same feed. I freeze milk in almost every pumping session but I also leave milk in the fridge for my baby’s next feed. I freeze in quantities of 5 oz so whatever is left under that amount is also left there. If that weren’t enough, it’s complicated enough to figure out how to use
Please fix the breastfeeding timer bug!!
Will you please fix the bug that causes the breastfeeding timer to continue running in the background when you’ve already finished a session?! This happens to me at least once a week which requires that I fully delete the app, re-download it and log back in to continue using it. It’s driving me nuts! Please, app PM, submit the ticket!
Terrible and Unreliable
This app is TERRIBLE! The only reason I continue to use it is that when I had my first child about 7 years ago, it was one of the only apps at the time that offered tracking of pumping, diaper changes, bottles, growth, and daily to weekly comparisons. Now with my third and fourth babies I find the app to be unreliable. It freezes at least once a day by either stalling when it is gathering data or when a function is selected and data needs to be inputted, none of the buttons work when I press anything. And worse yet when using the breastfeeding function, I have seen on multiple occasions that once I have started the timer the time reflected in the timer does not reflect the actual time spent nursing (e.g., 1 min in the app v. 8 min actual nursing). Moms rely on this app, and we deserve better!
So many glitches
This app is eternally frustrating. The only reason I got it was to track my pumping because I have the swing maxi and it does not have a display with a timer or settings and 80% of the time when it connects to the pump it displays the incorrect setting, mode, or time pumped. Then the sessions don’t appear properly and the save button disappears. Seriously can’t stand it.
Doesn’t work smoothly
The app has a lot of glitches with the pump tracking. Sometimes it does not record the pumping session even when the bluetooth was enabled and you have to go back and enter it manually. This the most important feature for me as I want to make sure I maintain my milk supply. I am exclusively pumping and this glitches make the process even harder for me.
