Mountain Project

I've just finished 3 weeks climbing in Colorado and have used this pretty much everyday. It is a great tool and has been really useful for choosing, identifying and logging climbs. Great work team.

The app is really good as it is much better than having to buy several books if you want to climb in different places in a short amount of time. The problem is that it needs to be improved. It is not very user friendly as you have to tap the screen too many times to access what you need. I have never seen a gps location for a route. This will save literally hours for the people who want to find the routes. I started adding them bit it is very strange I have never seen one already recorded. It should have an option where you can filter top rope routes that you can pass the rope in the anchor walking from behind the rock that you are trying to climb. Everytime I arrive to a route which is categorised as top rope, you cannot access on foot from behind. It really does not make sense. Last but not least why comments cannot be added. This is the most absurd one. I mean, I would pay for the app if it saves me the hassle of buying and carrying a collection of heavy books...

What else do you need an iPhone for?

Honestly, truly brilliant. If you're a climber, in the UK or elsewhere, the website is brilliant... But the app really (really!) should be free! Developers, get this right, & this app will be THE go-to app for climbers, internationally! It lists climbs internationally, in an almost holiday-guide manner... Whether checking out climbs at home, reminiscing over previous trips or planning your next, the Mountain Project is the best online grouping of climbing hotspots. All the info is there; locations, directions, maps, local information, individual climbs with advice on the gradings, height, required protection, reviews, and almost all have an incredibly well written description of the climb itself. But why is it only free for so long!? ...$10 (£7?ish?) for something I can pop into safari and use for free through the website? ...even at £.69 I'd consider it it's that good - but any more is ridiculous! ...I'll be sticking to my sticky dot maps.
