Noteshelf 3: Digital Notes

A lot of people have left reviews saying this is better than 2, and while I can see why to an extent. I have to disagree personally for a number of reasons. The first being the notebooks get incredibly laggy with a lot of pages. In 2, I sometimes had notebooks with over a thousand pages and they worked fine and I went though the pages with ease. This version has over 200 and the notebooks suddenly can’t cope and almost freeze before coming off. The second being the point of the post; hyperlinks. I’m a frequent copy and paster. What 2 didn’t do but 3 does, is copy the link with and for a little bit, I just did the tedious task of double clicking and dragging it so that I could undo the hyperlink, but now that this version likes to lag, it took forever to hover, and for some reason now, it won’t even let me double click on the link and now I have to double click on the word next to it to highlight that, then drag it over so it’s highlighting the link but making it so it’s highlight only the link, to then remove the link. It’s a complete farce and ideally needs an option to cut this out so that you can copy without the links being copied too. I’ve tried to find a way to disable this and everything I’ve seen says to go to the 3 dots > more settings > turn off allow hyperlinks, and to no surprise, it does not work. If this is supposed to be the case and this is how to turn it off, this needs sorting. Then maybe my review will be 4 out of 5 and my only issue will be the lag.

I am still using version II of Noteshelf regularly because for me the templates / notebook pages are far more useable than this supposed upgrade. I hate the cutesy cartoony pastel colours that are liberally sprinkled over everything. And meanwhile practically useful features have been lost. I like to use Notebook as a day planner and in version 3 there is no planner that allows you to quickly sketch a schedule which already has hours of the day written in. Why on earth would you do this? I keep checking back if some of the older selectable paper types might eventually be copied across (or gaps filled) but so far disappointed.

I like this app, it’s amazing and does everything I want it to do. I had other writing apps like this before, but I have no need to use any of them any more. This does everything I need.

I use this application all the time now. Absolutely essential piece of kit perfectly executed.

I’ve been a dedicated Noteshelf user since v1 and I love it. In general, this version is an overall improvement from Noteshelf 2, and it can incredibly perform searches on my handwriting! But (for me) the following are missing: 1) A mechanism to feedback issues to the developer (hence why I’m using this review) 2) The time, date and power level are hidden when using the app. Not very good when I need to keep an eye on the time for the next meeting! Please bring this back ASAP! 3) Switching between notebooks causes the notebook you switch to to reset the view to Page 1. This is a right pain as I switch notebooks frequently and some are 200+ pages long (so lots of additional and unnecessary scrolling to get back to where I was) 4) New page is a switch and a tap. Old version was just a swipe. Maybe there is a toggle for this? (I haven’t found it if there is) 5) The different colours on the left bar are very handy, but there needs to be 5 visible at all times, rather than just 3 (I use Black, Red, Green, Blue and Purple as ways of highlighting text) 6) The double tap to undo doesn’t work for me. Not a big issue, but would speed up my work if I could figure out why. If the above can be resolved, the rating will be a 5 Star! Thank you, and keep up the great work!

Love Noteshelf, have had it for years; use it all day for my notes but my v3 crashes daily and loses my last changes / additions Frustrating as otherwise its awesome

All these on the Macbook Pro: Here are the following items missing: 1. When you have a book open, there is no way to find out which book is open - no title is displayed. I have to close all open books and remember to open one from the Shelf to understand what I am on 2. Using a stylus on a Wacom Tablet, majority times, the undo key does not work. I have to physically click on the Undo button to make it work 3. Cannot select specific pages and export only the selected ones to PDF. 4. Trying to share pages - exports them as a Zip file and attaches them to the default Email application instead of an option to export as images These may not exist on the iPad. I need to test these on the IOS. Would give a 5 star if these issues are fixed on the Mac.
