I don’t have a lot of time to listen to stories, which is part of my impatience with Podcasts. I would like the journalist to get to the point and be efficient with the story. My impression is that to mich of the the information shared in the stories is not relevant or worth my time to listen to. I would also like to be able to listen to New York Times stories inan audio format since my only free time is when I’m commuting.
I have to restart the app multiple times per episode; not an ideal listening experience.
Proves that the world is more than trauma.
This app seems like a news app that forgot it’s an audio app. Why is everything huge except the tiny “play/pause” icon. There is no easy way to rewind/fast forward unless you add to queue and toggle back and forth. Why are there massive photos next to audio content? NYT wanted to make some money off of its audio content which I think is smart but it seems to have confused that with reinventing a very functional platform that already exists. I find this basically unusable.
Before NYT took it over, Audm regularly updated its selection, listing current articles weekly. Now, most of the articles from other publications are over a month old. Why bother offering them at all. Also, there is no option to decrease speed below 8.
NYT Audio is my go-to source for well written stories and great interviews. Michael Barbaro and Ezra Klein are genius and professional listeners and interviewers. Bravo.
You can download podcasts, but you have to be online to even open the app, which makes it pointless. I wanted to used this while flying, but apparently I would have to pay for WiFi, too
When I see a story that I’m not interested in, just like with a podcast player, I mark it as played. However, this app doesn’t behave like a podcast player. It continues to show me the stories I’ve marked as played so I have to keep scrolling through them again to locate stories I find more interesting, every time I open the app. Not only is this annoying, it wastes my time, so I find myself not using this otherwise good app very often.
The app has great content - if you can find it. You can set up categories you want to follow but it does nothing - you still see what you’re not following and can’t find what you are following
