Ochy offers runners, coaches, and physiotherapists the possibility to perform a personalized full-body running form and gait from anywhere with the use of AI. That way runners can prevent injuries, run efficiently, and improve performance. The app identifies the runner’s strong / weak points and provides details on what they should do to improve. The app provides the following posture analysis and running metrics:
- Foot strike – understand how the foot lands on the ground (heel, midfoot, forefoot) in relation to your center of mass
- Head position – Are you looking down when you run or straight ahead
- Back position – Do you have a good enough forward lean
- Arm position – Are your arms relaxed
- Heel kick – Are you driving your legs up far enough
- Front leg flexion – is your leg too bent causing you to lose energy
- Ground contact time – how much time are you spending on the ground
- Time between steps – How much time you take between the steps
- Vertical oscillation – Are you doing too much bouncing
- Leg cycle – Do you have a good leg flow
HOW IT WORKS
- Record or upload a video (7 seconds maximum) of yourself running
- Receive a detailed analysis of your running form within 60 seconds
The core technology uses computer vision AI to capture the movement of a person regardless of where they are running (on the road, forest, track, treadmill etc). This is then plugged into a proprietary biomechanics algorithm that considers every part of the body plus the person’s height, weight, gender, and running speed so we provide a personalized analysis. With that, the algorithm points out which area of the body the movement is not optimal for the running activity they are doing. Base on the analysis, we identify the weak points of the person and use an improved algorithm to provide specific exercises to work on to improve the weak points so the person can run more efficiently in order to prevent injuries or improve performance.

Seems good on the face of it but having used it with a physio/biomechanics coach the areas it suggests for improvement are just plain wrong. It suggests I’m leaning back too much which myself and the physio both agreed is wrong based on the footage. The App is only as good as its AI software and for me at least this seems to be lacking still.
Recommended to all runners
I was recommended this app by runners world magazine and it did not disappoint.
It is easy to use, just filming a short running clip for the analysis to take place. It only costs £1.99 for an individual analysis which is great if you just want a snapshot, but subscription options are available too.
If you’re a runner who likes tonnes of metrics you will not be disappointed!!

Easy to use & gives uncomplicated results. Useful to correct form and see what needs to be done to help prevent injuries.

Have used this a few times now and it does give some really good insights. Certainly something I plan on continuing to use on a personal and professional level. I would love to see the technology develop further to get an analysis from anterior / posterior views… no doubt this will come!
Every runner needs this app
This app is fantastic. It gives an incredibly detailed explanation of your running mechanics. It really does highlight the difference between how you think you’re running compared to what you’re actually doing - you think it’s Mo Farah but it’s more like Mo from Eastenders!
Pay attention to the advice for recording the video as this really helps to let the app do its job properly.
Thank you Khaldon and Perrine for all your hard, I have waited years for this type of analysis but could never afford the prices of a professional analysis.
The changes I have made in the last two weeks have already knocked 30 seconds off my pace/km 😉

Simple to use, really useful analysis!
This is a great app. Simple to use (you’ll need a friend to film your run though!) and the feedback / analysis is really useful with detailed tips and advice on any areas that need improvement. Excellent for new runners but would also be great for occasional ‘check ups’ on your running form! Worth the small fee IMO

If you have ever worked with an athlete that you couldn’t quite explain to them what was going on with their stride, this is the app for you. I love how I can show the athlete not only the video of their stride but the angles are highlighted by the app automatically. This app not only tells you what the runner is doing right, but prioritizes what they should work on. The beat part is that the app explains what is going on, what needs to change, and even provides exercises to help improve that movement. Total game changer.
