Official Kodi Remote

All the functions to manage Kodi are there but sadly marred by the most I'll-thought out interface I have encountered in a remote control app. There is no synergy or flow to it and it is woefully unnecessarily complicated in execution. Sybu Kodi remote in comparison is streamlined, logical and easy to use. Redesign this broken UI. Two stars.

I can only mark one episode at a time as “watched”, instead of being able to do so for a whole season or show at a time. Also it only plays shows locally (ie on my phone) instead of on the TV. Lame! I’m switching to another app.

As usual, the revival of this app makes it a pleasure to use Kodi (XBOXONE) … much appreciated! Would be nice to see the return if the “Year” category alongside “Album”, “Artist”, “Genre” without having to use a playlist. Would be awesome to drive Kodi off the Apple Watch as well. 🙂👍

I can’t believe I never downloaded this until now! Everything and more to control Kodi from your iPhone. This app is a must. Don’t mess around with numerous remotes (I bought one with a keyboard to easily search titles). It’s now redundant as I can search using my phone’s keyboard and it’s better than the sticky keys from that remote, plus I can see what I’m doing on the phone and don’t need to constantly look up to check entry. I bet copy-and-paste works too which is useful for entering your own APIs re: some add-ons, but haven’t tried yet. Just felt compelled to write a review for this free app that doesn’t have any annoying pop-up ads. A rarity.

Just updated to v1.8 and no longer connects to Kodi v14. And since Apple doesn't let you downgrade a version, I no longer have a remote! Update: I have always used it's static IP, but was not working anymore. I enabled Bonjour and auto-discovery didn't find it! I switched to the latest testflight version and it connected right away. Apparently you made changes for FQDN maybe it's related?

They added a mute button, but took away the volume up and volume down buttons. Not only that they wrecked the volume slider. It sort of works still, but it seems to have stages? You have to slide it a certain amount to register. No more fine tuning it’s either too loud or too quite. You can’t adjust it where you want it. Really bad update if you want to use the app for volume control.

Just wish I could have it on my watch and in control center.

This gets 5 stars for functionality; all the other Kodi remotes fail to function in some way with the latest Kodi version. That being said, this app was designed by a programmer who thinks like a programmer without a thought to how end users do things. For example, the file access windows annoyingly overlap each other the deeper you go into a folder tree. Furthermore, they overlap the window that has the time index slider for a video or song, leaving you unable to access it. You are forever playing”sliding windows” trying to get to your content, which is extremely frustrating. It needs a serious UI redesign and as such gets 3 stars.

Just saw the update yesterday and immediately installed it. Plus size screen support and no crashes! Not sure if ‘The’ sorting is fixed however that is minor compared to fixing the big issues above. Kudos! — Prior to iOS 14 I used it frequently for both a Vero4K+ as well a rPi based OSMC install. Crashing constantly now. Been over 3 years without an update. Need to adjust for new phone sizes and resolutions. Need a way to sort movies that begin with ‘The’ as they all get filed under ‘T’. Will upgrade my rating if these things are fixed.
