Opal Travel

The app is interesting but is frustrating to use it. Sometimes crash in the middle of the tourney and transport connect every time logout. 2 times of 3 don’t even permit to log in

Good, it works well. But needed some upgrades: - to check your Opal activities (= trips) directly in the app, without being sent to the website on the browser - also because this needs, every time, a new login. Doing it by the app wouldn't need a login (it's always logged in) - a schematic map of the whole transport network of Sydney directly in the app. Now, if I want to know where a station is, I have to look for it with Google Maps - the possibility to see the intermediate stations between two places, only by tapping on the trip info (Google Maps does it!) Once that developers fix these things, the app will work very better!

Having these tiny updates means that my perfectly good iPhone 7 doesn’t allow me to install the new iOS and therefore I cannot update the Opal software which means that I can’t program my opal card into the app. All to get me to buy a new phone really, this happens with a lot of apps but when you forget your wallet, you have only your phone on you which means that I can’t pay the bus fare with a Visa card because it’s in my wallet, and I can’t use my opal card because it’s in my wallet. Another gripe I have is that I can’t use my Opal card to pay for someone who is travelling with me. There’s been several occasions where I’ve had a companion who I’d like to pay for and can’t. Great if you are taking someone out on a date and want to catch the train some place together, “Sorry babe, you gotta pay for the trip yourself.” And the bus drivers no longer accept money, after all, it is legal tender.

This is a great app but when I try to add a saved trip in widgets it doesn’t work

Unusable app. Can’t use trip planner as it crashes as soon as you enter a destination.

Having lived in the UK and travelled in other countries extensively, us Sydney-siders, I can say with some authority, are incredibly lucky to have the public transport system that we do – powered very competently by Opal!

Love opal is very practical don’t need to remember to carry coins anymore and is very economical

It’s useful for checking your balance but when I try to use some other features like trip planner the app crashes every single time, disappointing.

Everything is great and easy to use and should have bus tracking. Put bus stop numbers to see where the bus are.

How many times I have waited for a bus that never comes , this app does not work as you might think, beware and be at least 7minutes early for buses in the inner west . Frustrating that this is not real time.
