Proton Authenticator

Needs a way better ui

It’s missing autofill in iOS so I’m not sure why I’d migrate from another Authenticator or even Proton Pass which supports TOTP token management and autofill.

Works on Apple Watch which is awesome. And it’s free?! The set up was easy. They can even import QR codes from screenshot(s) if you save to the photo(s) library, if you have to use the same phone, because otherwise it gets tricky. Great UI. Thank you devs!

Thank you for offering a desktop app!! Works great!! Also, yes, I use mobile, but i use a desktop/laptop too and it's it's great to have a desktop option restored -- so long Authy! You abanonded me, now I can finally abandon you.

This is a really great alternative to Google Authenticator.

App looks nice, good progress. Would prefer the ability to set a different PIN for unlocking the app, similar to what the proton mail app’s ability is.

Unfortunately, I experience lots of glitches when trying to add codes. I tried migrating from Google Authenticator and it constantly throws an “error with QR code”…

Thrilled that you all added this!! I’ve been looking at Authenticator apps but couldn’t find one that had decent privacy & sync options— something that you all solved for in both cases. I use other Proton products so I kept checking in the hopes you would add one. Thank you!!

Unless Proton Authenticator is in slide over view or 1/3 screen Split View, it was only showing six entries, and searching for entries past the first six did not work (at least on iPad Pro 13). Today it seems to be working ok, so the app is flakey. Also, Proton Authenticator will backup codes to iCloud, but in order to enable the “Sync between devices” option, a Proton account is required. However, the iCloud “backup” *syncs* across devices, so if all your devices are Apple, then all your codes can be visible on all your devices. I went to Proton’s web site and it was not immediately evident how to file bugs there.

Do not use v 1.1.3 this isn’t ready yet - deletes entries when you try to edit the entry name (title). No auto-sort, although one can drag the entries on macOS and edit in an account name in the Title. Syncs nicely with my proton account across all platforms and devices, but twice now on updating entry (editing) the title in macOS I got an error message and when I closed and re-opened the app it had deleted that entry entirely!! If I didn’t have a backup I could have been locked out of that account as it had already synced the deletion across devices.
