Search bar not working
I can never use the search bar. It only highlights the first letter I type in my most recent logins. The issue persists both in mobile app the browser extension

This is absolutely the best password manager and for good reasons. It's much safer than other managers and works well on basically all platforms. I recommend this to anyone, the browser extension for pc is rather amazing. I rate this 10/10 and I highly recommend checking out the other encrypted proton services such as there email.
Need ability to store locally, self host (sans cloud) & Lifetime payment option
Proton has been absolutely killing it in app design (writing this in June 2024), and if you need a password manager, I highly recommend giving this one a try. Up front, there is an excellent competitor with a good free tier available named Bitwarden - if you’re not using Proton Pass, you should probably be using Bitwarden. All other competitors I have tried didn’t have UIs at the same quality level, had major security incidents (like Lastpass getting hacked), or didn’t support all platforms as well as these do (sorry Apple!). Proton Pass has integration with their email aliasing service, an autofill and generate password that works consistently for me, the ability to act as a Google 2FA authenticator, support for all the platforms / browsers I use, and solid UI design.
Great app overall. The email aliases need a little work. Some accounts don’t use your email as the login and so having a new email alias replace a username you still need is a problem. It would be a lot better to integrate the account with the alias with a third line for the alias under the username and password. Something along those lines anyway. Perhaps also be able to generate through aliases like passwords. Having switched from Bitwarden, I really wish custom fields didn’t require the paid version like Bitwarden. Aliases are otherwise fantastic for discerning problem accounts that may be leaking your email to advertisers and managing multiple Zelle accounts in banking.
Proton pass on iPad does fully function. Proton support cannot provide instructions that actually resolve issues. If there are solutions they are not documented in howtos. It is obvious no one at proton actually understands and knows the iPad operating system.
The iPad app doesn’t autofill I get the prompt but when I click it doesn’t do anything. The phone app work well just not the iPad one.
It works most of the time, but is missing functions such as needing to close an app, open this, grab the OTP, close this, open the app you’re trying to log into and then paste the OTP. It also sometimes doesn’t play well with apps, getting stuck an an endless failed authentication loop where I need to kill the app and this and reopen them. Even then it doesn’t like to work sometimes. Notoriously bad with Discord login. Now it won’t even keep me signed in.
Everything updates instantly and loads as promised. I love that paid plans are allowed unlimited devices. I am coming off another brand that recently quit allowing passwords on more than 2 devices. 😀 Keep it up and I’ll remain a customer!
What the heck proton?
