Disables internet, even when showing a strong WiFi signal, so no website can be accessed In response to developers’ response: Thank you for responding. I’m receiving no error messages, I’ve not tried switch protocols, and I’m not using other VPNs. I uninstalled and reinstalled, then it worked fine at first, just like before. Then it started not allowing me to visit some websites. Every time I turn it off to access those though, it turns itself back on, so I had to uninstall again to be able to access what I needed.
Exceeded my expectations
it’s the best free vpn that actually is free and doesn’t ask to upgrade a lot
Please add a city selection option, such as New York, instead of scrolling down 767 servers to find the specific server. Alternatively, you could include a search feature or both.
welp, thats pretty much it! fast servers, safe etc.
Doesn’t work and tries to make you upgrade to do anything
ProtonVPN has a pesky bug. Say you’re connected to location ‘A’. Then you click on ‘change server’. And it fails to connect (50% of the time ‘change server’ doesn’t work in the first click). You will exhaust the limit or it will still increase the cooldown time to change server again!! 0 star for this bug. So easy to catch yet unfixed!!!!
Proton engages in heavily unethical and aggressively misleading billing practices. Stay far away if you want a company that deals you in an honest and respectful manner. They traffic in marketing around privacy but actually engage in extremely abusive behavior.
First and foremost, Proton’s VPN service itself is great and it’s definitely worth purchasing a subscription. I am a paid subscriber, using Proton VPN on MacOS and iOS, and have a few suggestions about the application interfaces. It might be helpful to sort servers first by continent, and then group countries regionally. Many users may never use VPN access based in certain regions and sorting by continent first would simplify the search. I also think for countries with a lot of servers in different regions, additional regional categories (like states for US) might again assist with less scrolling to find what is sought. Finally, especially with the iOS app, the option to disable “always on VPN” would be appreciated to facilitate conservation of battery life more easily, as the VPN will often reconnect if switched up using the iOS toggles. Proton offers servers in a truly impressive array of countries and I have found the service to be reliable and stable, and speeds to be plenty fast enough for my usage. Their free VPN service is also unparalleled and it’s wild that anyone finds fault with it.
