Tons and tons of dummy/fake profiles, high prices for doing anything useful on the app, which is very very difficult to use. Some functions flat out don’t work. Can’t edit my profile by clicking on edit profile button. App navigation is extremely sluggish. The developer team has apparently just given up on making this usable and maybe the company running it has abandoned ship. Don’t waste your time with the fake profiles. Don’t waste your money. Avoid / stay away from this piece of garbage. Good luck!
Had to delete after not being able to filter by gender anymore which is important to a lot of people.
App is super clunky. Slow to load, and sometimes never loads. I’ll receive notifications and then nothing shows up in the app. I love the concept and the online use (via laptop), but the app has been difficult to work with.
Roomi is one of those apps that’s basically unusable without a subscription, and the subscription is difficult to cancel. There is no “cancel subscription” button in the profile settings, and Roomi will still charge you even if you completely delete your account. Beyond that, when I searched for apartments in NYC it mostly showed me apartments in Mexico City.
You’d think with the verification system there would be less scammers but nope. Still people reaching out to me with verified profiles asking for money before viewing or an application fee. I’ve reported these profiles and they’re still up! You’re better off on craigslist
Let me preface this by saying I’ve NEVER written a review for an app before - that’s how bad this app is. First of all, you can’t even scroll through the app without it freezing or crashing. They clearly don’t have a tech team working to make it an actually functioning app. Second of all, you used to be able to contact people on it. Now you have to pay an absurd amount of money ($30/month or $15/week) to chat with a possible roommate. Do not waste your money because the app doesn’t even work.
I used Roomi before and had an account tied to my email address and when I tried to login, it said that the password was incorrect, but theres no “forgot my password” option to reset it. And so I tried to make a new account but because the “sign-up” page is also the “sign-in” page I literally couldn't make a new account. I tried to put in a new email and a new password and it still says that the password is incorrect. What a weird issue to have on an app in 2024.
Roomi did help me find my roommates, and a new place. This was back in February of 2024. Which then I immediately hit “cancel plan.” I even sent a message to support to stop charging me and cancel my subscription. March is get a recurring charge of $29.99 from Roomi on my bank account. I send another email (there is no phone number or a live representative). I still haven’t gotten any email back from the first email by this point. When I go back to my account and to payment plan settings, it says I’m under the “free” plan. But then April comes, and I’m charged $29.99 again. I check my account again and it still says I’m in the “free” plan! So there’s no option for me to cancel my subscription payments because it says I don’t have a subscription! But why am I getting charged $29.99 for two straight months! I will be reporting this as fraud and will be reporting the Roomi app. And even when I go to “plan” settings on the app, it says I’m on the “free”’plan so I cannot even cancel a subscription but I’m still getting charged $29.99 per month. And in the App Store settings there’s nowhere to cancel subscriptions either. With all the emails and tickets I’ve submitted to them over the past two months they should just cancel my subscription on their end, refund me, and give me an additional $100 for all this frustration and time wasted.
Not only does this app not work, it is impossible for you to get your money back after you realize that it doesn’t. Does not matter how many emails you send and of course they don’t have a customer service number, why would they?
