Rosetta Stone: Learn Languages

The app is ok but I don’t understand why for beginners the screen does not state the exercise in English, sometimes you are responding to questions or repeating phrases that you do not know what they mean in English?

This app is great for language learning but its voice recognition and pronunciation tools are woefully inadequate. The app is borderline unusable from a pronunciation perspective, this is especially annoying at the language I’m learning ( Irish ) is endangered and there are very few native speakers to listen to in order to develop pronunciation skills outside of the app.

After buying a lifetime subscription, they’ve now removed the ability to have a custom learning plan made for you

I am learning Japanese, an alien language in characters and sound for me. The exercises are good but I often have no idea what the aim of the current challenge is. It is unclear if I have learned “little girl” or “daughter” but generally I am scoring 90% so I hope I can keep it up

I contacted their help about this and got fobbed off by a generic, dismissive message, so here’s the review. The app logs you out every time you switch between your iPhone and iPad. I get you only want one user at a time, but really, we’re out of 1990s, there are simple methods for that. I have 3 kids and at home really want to use the iPad. On the commute I want to use my phone. But the commute has tonnes of tunnels, so even though I pay for offline mode, it’s useless if I can’t log in. This is farcical in 2025. If Rosetta Stone goes out of business, it’s things like this that treat customers as crooks first. Also the offline mode itself is buggy.

Far from boring! Good audio, clear & colourful photos. I really recommend Rosetta Stone. Really enjoying it!

Voice recognition feature for practicing pronunciation would be great if it worked consistently, but unfortunately that isn't the case. I had to turn it off because it was failing to respond and wouldn't allow progression past a particular word, even after restarting the phone. I have checked the mics work, and are good quality. This is an iPhone Pro, so I don't think it's a hardware problem. Sometimes it recognises a cough as a correctly pronounced word, and other times doesn't recognise any noise at all, no matter how loud. The inconsistentcy is very frustrating. I feel that my learning progress is hampered by a lack of theory, I can progress through units without any idea of what the meaning is.

Have had Rosetta Stone on my phone a while and finally decided to try it. Guess it’s a free trial as haven’t been asked for money. Been learning Italian a while elsewhere but wanted a different approach and brush up on some basics. Putting up with some very baby steps for a while I lost faith in the app when it kept complaining about my spoken Italian and poor microphone on my new iPhone. It’s just painful. Only a few lessons in and I’ve requested account deletion - and yes you have to request it for some kind of consideration of account deletion. What craziness is this? Can’t recommend if the app can’t hear you speaking on the latest iPhone and when it does here you marks you poorly for literally repeating exactly as you just heard it say!

The speech recognition on this app is terrible. At first I thought it was due to my iPhone 14 so got the 16pro and exactly same problem. When sitting in silence it still struggles to work. Some modules feel impassable as have to do up to 10 times for it to actually work. Paid £200 for life time subscription though in reality wish I had not as takes a life time to get through one module even though it’s all being done correctly.

I loved this app but I know am unable to sign in. I’ve download and redownloaded multiple times. Tried on mobile data and on WiFi and with VPN off and on and reset my password online. Shame as the app never used to be this buggy.
