Santander Cycles is the self-service, bike-sharing scheme for short journeys in inner London.
The official Santander Cycles app from Transport for London is the only app to send bike release codes straight to your smartphone. So you can skip past the docking station terminal and get on your bike quicker.
Simply register with your bank card, and use the app to ‘Hire now’ from a nearby docking station. Follow the instructions to get your bike release code. Tap the code into the docking point and you’re good to go!
You can also:
• See up-to-the-minute information about which docking stations have bikes and spaces available
• Plan a journey with an easy to follow map
• Receive notifications – for example, summarising the cost at the end of your hire
• View your recent journeys and charges
• Save your favourite docking stations
• Become a London Rider - complete challenges and hire cycles to earn entries into a weekly prize draw!
Each bike release code is valid for 10 minutes at your chosen docking station.
Please note the app doesn’t reserve bikes. If there are no bikes available at the docking station, don’t worry. Use the app to find a nearby docking station with bikes, and get another bike release code to use there. You won’t be charged until you use the release code.

steal your money / Roba tu dinero
This app refused my card, my girlfriends card and my sisters card. We have several charges on the bank and nobody give us any code to unluck the cycle. Be aware. Esta app rechazó mi tarjeta, la de mi novia y la de mi hermana. Tenemos numerosos cargos en el banco pero nadie nos dio un codigo para desbloquear las bicis. Cuidado!

Hey! I’ll change my review if anyone can help me with this problem. I’ve tried to register a number of times and I keep getting the same error when I log in: parameter “type” must be provided
NO FUNCIONA
La app está bien para mirar la localización de las paradas, pero no intentéis registraros. El registro dará error y os cobrarán igualmente, luego toca pelearse con ellos para que te lo devuelvan, mejor usar los postes que hay en las paradas.
REALLY BAD!
Me habéis cobrado 2 veces por el alquiler de 2 bicis cuando no pude utilizar la app! Puse la tarjeta, dió error de tarjeta pero me cobrasteis el pago sin recibir ningún código para las bicicletas. Puse el número de otra tarjeta, esta vez de crédito, y esta vez dio error en la dirección, sin recibir tampoco ningún código para las bicicletas. Y me acaba de llegar el cargo en el banco otra vez del alquiler de dos bicicletas! EN TOTAL 4 BICICLETAS QUE NO HE UTILIZADO NUNCA!!! Después de los dos errores realizamos el alquiler en el puesto físico que va de maravilla y desinstalé la app, pensando que nunca me cobrarían nada porque la app no me dejaba continuar. Además del cargo de los alquileres el banco me ha cobrado un cargo por cambio de moneda. Me parece un robo.

Mi novia y yo hemos pasado unas vacaciones alucinantes en esta bella ciudad gracias a las bicicletas. Si la climatología es buena, para mi la mejor manera de conocer Londres.

Where's the '+' sign?
How exactly am I supposed to put in my phone number to receive the confirmation code when there is no ability to put in a plus sign in the phone number field? Have you not figured that tourists might also want to rent a bike? Basic stuff. Failed.
