Pros: custom settings for furigana display, audio version with good voice acting. Translations/definitions are available but unobtrusive. Good language acquisition tool. Cons: not enough stories to choose from, and unfortunately they are all boring. Nothing happens, it’s all background exposition or people reminiscing.
The amount of thoughtfulness and care that is put into this app is astounding. It’s wonderful, thank you to the entire team.
Lots of good quality original reading content for lower-intermediate / intermediate readers. Fills a gap I haven’t found anywhere else. Favourite features are: (1) Furigana for each word is shown or hidden based on the specific kanji known by each user. This reinforces the kanji I’ve already learned without having to lookup the kanji I don’t already know. (2) Lots of helpful grammar and translation notations at the click of a button. (3) The team is incredibly responsive to customer questions and suggestions.
This is a fantastic resource to get you reading in Japanese. The explanations with the text are fantastic.
Already a big fan of Human Japanese, I am trilled with Satori Reader. LOVE the grammar series in this app, a terrific addition to my Japanese learning.
After taking quite a break in learning Japanese, I’m recent months I’ve been trying to get back into it. Took a couple courses in university, so probably around an N4 level at the time? I am finding this to be a fantastic motivator to improve more - the stories are actually REALLY engaging (Not usually the case with textbook dialogues) and the built in SRS is really helping me to build my vocabulary. It’s tough going at my level, I am running into MANY unfamiliar words per chapter. But the fact that I don’t have to pause to look up these words and make my own flash cards just makes it all feel so much more engaging. Plus they are great at using the words you’ve learned again in following chapters! I really feel that seeing the words in context is a big help for understanding and retention.
This app has been helping me greatly to transition into light novels, and the stories are really engaging (with audio too!) Even as a long-time Anki user, I also find all the built-in review tools to be very useful, and a huge time-saver! Highly recommended!!
It feels like I just hired a Japanese teacher who sits right beside me and knows exactly what I need to be explained. Everything’s very well explained. It’s fantastic! When I’m driving, I kind of hope that I could listen to a series of episodes, but it seems that I can only listen to one episode at a time right now.
Satori reader is a perfect tool for tha
