Wish there’s a dark mode
The app is light, responsive, and easy to use. The transitions from pictographs to words were seamless. Night reading can be made much better with the addition of a Dark Mode.
New version, same old issues
The already reported sloppy development issues carry on despite various changes introduced, such as a content pop-up, and the fixed news section now finally getting new stories after being stuck with old ones for more than year! Reading settings such as font size got worse and now are hidden in the app. Text line spacing for text under pictures still too small and no dark mode. Can’t really understand how the team developing for such an important magazine still get the basics wrong and wrong again.

App not so good
Scientific American is first class - I love it. I love the App a great deal less. News seems to have stopped updating sometime last year!

Not sure why after so many years they can’t get the line spacing for the text under the pictures, introduce dark mode and have the app remember from where you left. Also the app won’t load any recent news anymore and it’s stuck with items published a while ago
Awful latest version
It used to be ok but this latest version is absolutely disgusting. Whoever was the UX designer, s/he clearly doesn’t use the app and doesn’t read the magazine. Whenever I get my iPad to read it, the app resets to the latest news tab and I’m left lost trying to figure out where was I in my reading. Very very upsetting.
More experimenting
The Times has one of the best navigation systems for the iPad and SA might take a look at this as an alternative navigation process for exploring magazine content. The current system is kind of OK but feels somewhat stilted and clunky.
Constantly have to reinstall
Poor app, I often have to delete and reinstall it as it stops recognising I have a subscription
Ditto the subscription problem
Every time I use the app it tells me my subscription has expired but it hasn’t. After a few hours it seems to remember. An app with dementia, Useless.
