Why doing a auction when there are at the end no seats available
While waiting for my flight I realized how tired I was and I could only hope that the seat next to me would be unoccupied during the 11.5 hour flight from Lisbon to Mexico. When I understood that the flight was nearly fully booked, I looked in to options to get an upgrade and TAP Portugal gave the advice to use this app. It’s super easy and clear and I’m looking forward to use it for flights with other airlines. Directly after I won the auction, I got a ‘new’ QR code and I could almost immediately enter the plane.
Aplicativo funcionou bem foi excelente!
A atendente Júlia Lopes fez um ótimo atendimento! Muito simpática e atenciosa. SeatBoost eh muito interessante, vale o bid
This is the second time that I am the only one in an auction and never get a place. Both were an upgrade to business class on a TAP flight
I signed up in hopes of winning an auction for a business class seat (upgrading from premium economy) on Condor. I was bidding against one other sucker. Sucker, because when I finally got to the gate I was told that all business class seats had been sold out for days. So, their sneaky seatBoost’s business model must be to trick people into “bidding” in a fake auction, and then to sell to the airlines info about what people WOULD HAVE BEEN willing to pay. Doubtless airlines pay them a pretty penny for the fraud they perpetrate on travelers. Update: SeatBoost has replied with a deflecting nondenial. It basically is consistent with a policy of always running an auction even if they have no info about whether there are any seats. (Read it carefully).
The app had me bidding for an upgrade that wasn’t even available. Then a flight delay caused “technical challenges” so no results before departure, and when I landed after my 12 hour flight it was still processing auction results with a promise to announce results soon. A waste of time. A waste of energy. A waste of hope.
Although I did not get the upgrade. I was pleased with the simple UI/UX experience. I appreciate how straightforward it was. And although is exciting to check the app and know you are the only one participating, after counting the minutes until the clock hits zero and not getting the upgrade hurts 😅. But I am aware that during the rules of the game they were very explicit about just because you are the number one doesn't mean you would be guarantee an upgrade.
This app is a scam. They literally will skip people that bid more just so they can sell seats to a larger group even if they bid less. Do not use. The “bid list” means absolutely nothing.
I don’t know who’s decision it was to hire this young man but great job! I had a flight in JFK and I wanted to bid for an upgrade. Kyle was super patient and helpful during the entire process. He has such a kind and welcoming demeanor and I really appreciated all of his help!
