The Short Years Baby Book

The app has made it super simple to tell adorable stories. It’s easy to get behind and overwhelmed, but also easy to catch up if you put your mind to it. The actual book, however, will not stand the test of time. It’s a three ring binder with pages that are not very thick and the holes are not reinforced. The pages will be ripped the first time your child tries to touch this (if not sooner!). Likely I’ll have to pdf this (hopefully no fee and possible) and make this into another sturdier book. Considering this is supposed to last a lifetime, I’m shocked they didn’t reinforce the holes on these pages or use thicker paper!

I had the Short Years book for now 11 months. Its cute and I love the option to add photos. BUT, its very plain when it comes to the questions. Repetitive. There is no personalization to the writing. I wish I could put details Bout my baby, like the day he was born, or more details about milestones. Cute, but I bought another baby book to put more details down before I forget them.

This app is terrible, it doesn’t stay signed in, on the rare occasion it reminds me to fill out pages I have to log back in and more often than not there are no new pages to fill out. It’s just poorly made advertising for bored parents to be tricked into buying an overly expensive baby book.

I have been using this baby book for over a year now (I have 2 kids, so a completed baby book, starting on the toddler years, and am beginning work on a new baby book this year). I also buy this for my siblings and close friends as a baby gift because I think it is THAT good. The amount of value that I get out of it well justifies the price, and I think it is a worthwhile investment (especially when I know I can cut things like coffee throughout the year, but get a lifetime keepsake out of it!). I love that I can complete a baby book while rocking my babies to sleep, or taking a bath, or sitting in a car while they nap. There is no way I could keep up with a traditional scrapbook or printing my favorite photos and collecting them somewhere with my thoughts with two kids under two. I know there are also other tech-based baby book options out there as well. I’d still recommend this one, for several reasons: 1) This is a one-time payment, not a subscription. 2) Within the last year they have made several thoughtful updates to their app that really benefit me as a user. These are things like adding videos (through QR codes) to my book, updating the photo collage layouts so there’s more flexibility with how the pages look, adding the ability to change a prompt if I’d like to use my own, adding a prompt bank of recommendations that I can look through, and even a character counter that shows me exactly how many letters past the limit I am if I need to shorten my responses. They’ve even recently added an AI that can take your random notes and put them into sentences (though I haven’t had to try it yet). 3) The print quality is just fine for my personal needs. Colors show up nicely, and the app lets me know if a photo is low resolution (although I’ve even printed some low-res photos and still they look great). 4) CONSISTENT updates - they are regularly adding new features, so I feel confident that there is a lot of thought being put into the process and app development on their end, and they maintain it over time. I know this is wordy, but even still words cannot express how grateful I am to have such a tangible keepsake, full of my thoughts, photos, and videos of my children from this age. Highly, highly, recommend.

Absolutely love this app!! Makes it so easy to capture and remember all the things over the year

Ok, so the books are a bit expensive, but if you want to invest in a nice baby book I highly recommend this route. The books are super nice, three ring punched so you can add personal things, and you can get envelopes for keepsakes. The app makes it SO easy to regularly and consistently add to the book. No more printing, gluing, etc. just pop in photos from your phone and jot down a little anecdote here and there and you’ll blast through it!

I love the app and the concept of this book. After spending so much time putting my heart into filling this out and painstakingly choosing photos, I was so excited to receive the book. Super disappointed that the pages are printed on paper slightly thicker than printer paper and about the same quality as my cheap home printer would spit out. For this price I really expected photo book quality. Such a bummer, it makes me wanna cry. I feel super ripped off and mislead by all the marketing that promised a beautiful keepsake.

Every time I try to upload photos in bulk (max of 30 at a time), the app has crashed on me or nothing uploaded and there’s a weird glitch. DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH TIME IT TAKES TO PICK OUT PHOTOS OF YOUR BABY?! I tried multiple times and it keeps crashing and WASTING MY TIME! The whole point of the app/book is to save time, and this defeats the purpose!! well, they already have my money so I have to suffer through. I WISH THEY WOULD FIX IT!!!

When I attempt to upload photos it fails to upload and restarts the app. The app also keeps logging me out.

This app is terrible, can’t stay logged in but can sure remind me 7 times that a sale is ending. So frustrating. Even if I wanted to buy the book on sale I’d have to log in to do it because the app NEVER stays signed in between uses.
