The Way Home: Pixel Roguelike

The gameplay is fun, but oh my god, locking progression behind ads or $$$ is terrible. Other mobile games make the gameplay difficult and grindy, but give you the ability to either buy your way to victory instantly or watch ads to make you stronger. This game straight up says “if you want to progress, you need to spend $10 or watch a ton of ads.” That is not how you do this, mate. People won’t see that and *want* to watch the ads or spend the money, they’ll see “wow, he’s just being greedy” and stop playing. That’s certainly what I did. I understand wanting to make money, but be more subtle about it. Don’t straight up go “I have mouths to feed” (which is literally what they say in the game). Play through the first dungeon and uninstall. Fun little time waster for about 30 minutes, if that.

I cannot stress how incredible this game, there’s free to play options, the game is incredibly fun, there’s a little bit of something for everyone

Instead of back up save and all that, could we have a restore purchase??? I don’t use iCloud and Saving backup what if my phone gets wiped off, $9.99 with no restore purchase meaning I’d have to purchase again.. so please have restore purchase option then I will buy this premium game until then 2/5. I love the game but not willing to spend the money only to have to re-purchase if game gets deleted.

I purchased this game in an effort to distract myself from a great loss. What a lovely distraction it has been. I can’t say enough positive things about this game and I’m looking forward to the developers’ next creation.

Firstly, you will need to pay after the first island to continue the story. I would say it’s well worth the money. I truly enjoyed the game and I was looking forward to each page of the story. I did feel like the caves got a but easy by the end - didn’t expect to finish it so fast. Also, my game keeps getting stuck at the end right after the cut scene. Anyway, I really hope more gets added to the game as it’s super fun and addicting! Great job to the dev(s)!

Simple controls, fun gameplay. Good to jump in for some quick play time.

Save data barely ever works

I don’t play party mode so maybe I’m missing out because of that, but there could be a lot more in Story mode. It really needs more upgrades, added difficulty through various methods. Look at Hades, Diablo 3, use those methods of increasing difficulties and rewards. Even a dungeon that repeats all boss’ in one go, or a never ending one would be a nice addition. I rated a 5 because it is a good game and it’s not using in app purchases to drain your bank account, but if I consider Hades a 5-star game this would be a 2 in comparison. Doesn’t make it bad, just not as good. Hoping for new content in the near future.

Once you finish the first dungeon you are literally asked to buy a bridge for 10$ to access the other story mode islands or watch 15 ads to obtain 150 leaves to go to the NEXT island (not all of them) and will have an ad before each dungeon. Just don’t make the game free if you’re going to do this, it’s obvious you want the money. You should have just sold the came for 1-2$ instead.
