Nice opensource yt alternative
Supports self-hosted piped instance, no ads, opensource, dev actually responds to bugs reports / feature requests. Best youtube alternative app on iOS. Loving it!

this is the first frontend app ive seen to have an official ios release rather than requiring sideloading and that convenience alone is extremely valuable. especially with how easy it is to lose your patience using invidious or piped via safari
Very good if video/audio quality is not important for you, otherwise very laggy when selecting 1080p videos ; Videos cut every 10 seconds to load the buffer which takes 10 seconds, so for every 10 second of video, you have to wait another 10 to continue watching. The app has a lot of room for improvement.
documentation is severely lacking in the how to use department. it has quite a bit of docs on how to fix problems though, but thats just for folks who already know how to use it
It works well if you know how to use it, though sometimes(often) the videos have difficulty loading.
Was about to looking into freaking mitm my own appletv when I came across a post on the hacker news (shout out miki123211). What’s this? A foss app that just works beautifully on the hecking ios AND tvos? SAY IT AIN’T SO. Tips incoming.
This app, in its current state, is just straight bad. At least two of the three issues I’m having have been reported, months ago, with absolutely no response from devs. 1 - Seek feature completely broken until video has sufficient buffer. 2 - Audio at the end of some videos gets completely cut out. 3- App crashes when playing videos in the background with the lock screen on. Until these issues are addressed, this app is absolutely unusable. Recommendation is to avoid until devs actually give a care about fixing bugs reported months prior.
Over time, the user interface has been improved and options for multiple instances, playing and logging in through separate instances, and the queueing is great. Thank you so much for this app! For anyone having issues seeing player controls in the background (I did for a while, but there’s a fix): go to settings -> controls -> toggle off “Use system controls with AVPlayer”
Unlike Piped, Yattee doesn't work OOTB and requires some configuration. However, the configuration is simple and quick; I got Yattee up and running in less than 5 minutes. Love the UI and all the ways it can be tweaked in the settings. Videos are playing with minimal buffering at 720p but might have more with 1080p. I'm not picky; I just want to watch videos in peace.
