If you expected this to work then you must be new to GCI. This app removed many of the options we had when using the web interface and made everything less intuitive. For example, how do you turn off WiFi? I don’t want it because I’m using my own router and this one is just interfering with my signal. Or, how do you change channels for WiFi? Those are all standard, basic features of any router. Who decided that customers shouldn’t be able to access those settings? But, that’s GCI for you… Avoid like plague.
Love it for monitoring my friends and family and how much data we use. Can easily turn off devices if I accidentally left them on (smart bulbs, tvs ). However, I have enabled the setting to get notified when certain people arrive and leave the WiFi, but it does not seem to work.
Half the features of the web-based management but less organized and twice as slow! I’m gonna have to start using my own equipment cause this app is REALLY bad.
I will be opting out of this program because there is 0 access to any of my routers Server Settings. Fix this
This app is the worst app I’ve ever used. Supposed to assist you with your in home internet, but does everything except that. It’ll show you how much data your devices have used in the past month (somewhat accurately) but won’t run a speed test ever. Just continuously says “calculating” before it gives up entirely. Don’t even try to enter the menu/profile. On an iPhone, it’ll crash the app as soon as you touch that button. So if you’re okay with never being able to do anything you need to do on your in home internet app, by all means download this app… if not, just go on the website or call GCI (if they even answer) b/c this app won’t do anything for you but make you more frustrated.
The web interface of other modems/routers is easier than trying to decipher this app. It’s slow, it crashes, the layout is not intuitive and the options are limited. GCI forces you to use the app to make advanced changes. Garbage.
Every single time I have to switch between accounts, the app crashes. The only solution I have come up with is to delete the app, re-download, and everything works fine until I have to switch back over to my other account. I’ll adjust my review once this is fixed, but the fact that there’s no app support on GCI’s website is frustrating as well. (or if it’s there, it’s hard to find)
On going problems with Internet over the last year. Not Alaska’s most reliable network. Impossible to get issues resolved. No management to speak with to get help getting on-going issues resolved. Extremely long ads when calling in. So you have to sit and listen to the same looooooong message every time you call in for support. Used to love GCI. They have gone down hill over time. Very frustrated customer.
This app is hot garbage. Combine a terrible interface with unintuitive naming conventions and a complete lack of textual support and you text this app. It is less functional that using the IP address for a router to configure your system but at least GCI tech support people love it, so I guess there is that. Too bad I pay for the service rather than the people who love this app.
