BBC Sounds never connects. I try time and again. Then suddenly it does. Other radio appps work immediately so it is not my Wi-Fi. I have deleted it, lost all my downloads, and it still doesn’t work. I also try on my other device with no success so it is not a problem with my device. BBC sound needs an overhaul. Very annoying.
It must be a bug in a recent update, but at the moment, most often on a wifi network, it won’t work (“download error”) only on 4G/5G . I have just changed both phone and wifi system recently , and note the trouble persists - so I can be sure its the ‘Sounds’ software.
Endless crashes and failed reloads.
I have to turn off and on my phone every time I was to use it and then sometimes it works
I have lived with the World Service, on short wave & HF since 1965 & now I have the entire BBC radio to enrichen my life further, love it♥️listen constantly, thank you🙏

This app has become so buggy for use on an iPhone 12 with iOS 17.xx that it is almost unusable. Downloads are impossible and listening to live or rewound programs is extremely complicated The purported solution to these problems is to clear caches, browsing history and cookies. This does not work. Nor does signing in and out of BBC Sounds, deleting the application and reinstalling it. My solution a lot of the time now is simply to use another application to listen to the BBC. How sad that the BBC with all its resources is unable to make this application work as it should and once did.
I have an IPhone SE and this app barely ever works. Occasionally it works if I delete and download it again, but not always. I love BBC sounds and I’m gutted I can’t listen to it! :(
Been using the app for a long time from abroad and until recently it was rock-solid reliable. It suddenly became hit and miss whether it would stream or not and often found myself giving up on it and using the BBC Sounds website which worked much better. Sticking with it as it’s a vital connection to UK for me as an expat!
Since about December 2023 bbc sounds app keeps occasionally failing to load all except the downloaded content. I hope it gets fixed soon.
