Brick - Ditch Distractions

Team side and product side this thing is a hit to me. First let’s start with the customer service of brick. I ordered my initial order about 3 weeks prior to receiving my actual block. About a week and a half goes by and I haven’t really checked my order status and I see an email pop up from the customer service department recognizing an issue in shipping, confirmed my address and shipped a replacement device immediately. Without prompting they proactively reached out and got my issue resolved with minimal issue. Awesome job. On to the product, I bout a brick with the express purpose to get better about shutting down for the night to stop myself from doom scrolling to crazy hours in the morning. This has been incredibly successful as a physical block that I can then reinforce with a mental statement to stop myself. Really appreciate the product and the team!

Ok so I really love it and all— it’s great for limiting distractions, and stuff, but I ABSOLUTELY HATE two step verification I have to ask my mom because I use her email for it but sometimes my phone has bugs where I have to restart my phone. And EVERY SINGLE TIME I restart my phone, it logs me out and I have to do the STUPID two step verification YET AGAIN. And it is so freaking annoying please at least don’t log me out every time I restart my phone. Thank you for your time and for reading this review all the way to the end.

This new update keeps making me “sign in.” Shouldn’t signing in be one and done? This is especially frustrating because when I’m “signed out” — which happens when my phone dies, I guess? — my phone automatically unbricks. Really missing the simplicity of only needing to tap my BRICK to use this product.

I love this app, it has granted me probably 3-4 extra hours of sleep per night which I couldn’t be more thankful for, and has helped me be more productive with miscellaneous things such as DEEP cleaning my very cluttered room, finally putting in the effort to solving my 4x4 Rubik’s cube that’s been sitting on the shelf for years, reading more books like I used to, and for entertainment watching movies or shows instead of hours of scrolling. If I could suggest an update, I’ve been doing some traveling this summer and I noticed that it doesn’t adjust to time zone changes. For example, I scheduled “sleep” mode for 10:30, but when I went across the country it activated at 8:30 instead because of the time change.

I was SO excited to order and receive this device. And, as a result, SO disappointed to discover what I consider to be a major user experience flaw. The device only enables blocking 50 apps at a time. I have 194 apps on my phone. I truly don’t understand why the company would introduce this limitation, other than perhaps some engineering or economic consideration — this limitation seems to work directly against their envisioned value prop. What an absolute bummer! My hope was to block all but a small number of communications apps on my phone, but now discover that I’m maxed out at blocking only slightly more than 25% of my apps. :-/ $60 later, feeling like this purchase might be a total bust.

This tool is wonderful! My kids are more present and they are now understanding how much their phone controls their time! It’s been great to see them want to “brick” their phones!

I locked social media for a month and gave the Brick to my wife to hide - it was great! The amount of work I was able to get done was INCREDIBLE! Social media is necessary for me as an artist, but it doesn’t have to control my life anymore. I can’t live without my Brick

This product had a great start. It was a great tool for productivity. I liked it so much I even found myself recommending it to others. After the last update it’s unusable. Every time I try to brick/ unbrick the app just crashes. Had to uninstall to finally unlock my apps. Really frustrating to see a good product go down like this. Unless this is just a weird bug in the update, this just became a $60 paperweight.

Really useful product for my productivity. I highly recommend.

I never leave app reviews… like ever. But this has been a game changer for my ADHD and doom scrolling. I go to sleep and wake up easier without my usual 1 hour of scrolling at night and in the morning. I’m more productive and engaged during the day and social media has become more of an option than a necessity. Love it so much that I bought a new one when I lost my first and will repurchase a hundred times over if I have to.
