Cheq:UPI for Foreigners & NRIs

App would not let me register once I paid the $. Talked to their support who said they would reverse the app fee since it wasn’t working and wasn’t as promised. It’s been 2 weeks with no movement on their part. I would say stay away from the company and app.

Jazz was prompt to come to my hotel and help me get everything up and running. Saved me a ton of trouble!!

Cheq app works only with vendors who are registered as business. Many auto drivers, taxi drivers, and street vendors have not registered as a business. So we can’t pay them using this app. That’s almost 50% of them who can’t be paid as or my experience. So this app is not a replacement for NRIs for local GooglePay or PhonePay

The pro is that you can pay using UPI, the bad part is that it only works for larger businesses and not individuals or businesses using personal accounts. I’ve had some luck using it in the rickshaw, but today I tried using it and it wouldn’t pay the person since he was using an personal UPI. I ended up stuck, out of cash, and had to phone multiple local friends to help me pay the fare. The exchange fee was also a bummer. Had I known there were exchange fees and payment limitations, I would have just registered for a local UPI.

They came the same day to verify. I need this for living in India. Making my life so much easier. Jazz was so helpful and informative.

Rewards of 1% or 2% cash back for various vendors are all expired offers, but continue to be prominently displayed and falsely advertised. When fees change or are added, there is no notification to the customer that it’s changing or even has changed. You just start seeing the price change.
