Courageous Kids

Downloaded this app to use for my sensitive 3yo who will be traveling for a month. The social stories are so much easier to create when it’s on the iPad, and has already tried it for some new extracurricular classes my son is starting. He loves the stories especially when i can add in some personal photos. The one thing though is I wish pages can be inserted. And also keep in mind there is a limit on pages, so may need to work around it if have longer stories The games have been a big hit. I think the more he plays it, the more the “sensible” acts become natural for him. It has a lot of scenarios too, so certainly helpful. When we are out, i often remind him if he’s being “silly” or “sensible”. Just started using the visual schedule as well. I used to do these schedules on velcro board. But once again, with so many tasks already built in, makes it so much easier to swap around if changes happen during the day. I can see it be super handy when traveling. Overall highly recommend if you have a sensitive kid or speech delayed one

Great app. There needs to be more diversity in the pictures though. I can see you have hit all the skin colours and hair colours but they aren’t represented in all categories.

Cannot recommend highly enough. This app has been so helpful for my 3 year old who was finding the transition to daycare super hard. The way you can personalize the stories is so cool. My son loves it and it’s so nice to read the stories together and watch his confidence grow. The visual plan has also saved our mornings. I don’t have to shout and he loves the independence! Thank you for this incredible resource!!

This app is so useful to me as a parent, super easy to use and I love how you can personalise the stories to support your individual child’s needs. I can see how useful this app would be for educators too! Highly recommend.

We love the Courageous Kids App! It helped us prepare our children to begin the school year and now we use it daily for morning and evening routine checklists. It’s a great help!

We loved the personalised aspect! It would be fantastic to help children visualise themselves in these real life situations. We also loved how you could extend the games further, encouraging discussions leading into the why’s, consequences and emotional intelligence.

The Courageous Kids app has really helped with my autistic son’s anxiety around going to child care. We read him the personalised social story each morning and it helps put him at ease. We are finding drop offs much easier as he knows what to expect. The app is easy to use and I love that you can use cartoon style images or upload your own photos. My son loves turning the pages like a book. Thank you Courageous Kids for making our life easier!

I have a little one who gets to quietly nervous, it breaks my heart, and I just don’t know how to best prepare him without making it even more overwhelming. Using simple and personalised stories, will help him prepare for starting school soon. I’ll make sure to tell his teacher about the app, so other parents can prepare their little ones too!

This app is amazing! So well designed and user-friendly. An easy way to help your toddler or child prepare for situations. It prepares the stories for you, you can select the characters and edit the words to suit what you might say. You can even make your own and add your own images. Definitely recommend!
