FAQs
Can I rent more than one bike at once?
Yes, you can rent up to 5 bikes at once! Just make sure to select the correct number of vehicles right at the beginning of your booking process.
Can I leave the bike anywhere?
No. We work hard with the cities to keep the streets clean and accessible for everyone. Please return your Donkeys to specific drop-off locations when you are done for the day.
What if I have issues?
Our support team is always happy to help and understands that life happens.
HOW PRICING WORKS
Just Ride (Pay as you go)
With no strings attached. Just Ride is ideal for trips from 15 mins to a few hours. You can also top up your Donkey Wallet with money and we will give you bonus credit that you can use for Just Riding.
Day Deals
In some cities, we have rolled out day deals which are great for when you just need a bike for the 1,2,3, or up to 7 days. Visiting for a weekend or inspired to explore like a local when you're on vacation? This is the perfect solution for you or a guest visiting you.
Monthly memberships
With a Donkey membership, you pay a fixed monthly fee and get a certain amount of free time per day. If you exceed the included daily free time, your rental is extended for a low fixed cost. Ideal for the daily commute and for a busy city life with multiple errands throughout the day. Valid in all Donkey cities.

We are a team of 40(ish) firm believers in cycling as the most efficient mode of transportation and the only one our cities need. We work by the rule that any decision we make will have to bring us closer to being a sustainable, affordable, and reliable mobility provider. Incompetent sign-in design
When you successfully sign in with your email and password, it requires you enter a code it texts you. If you've changed numbers, you're out of luck and effectively locked out of your account. If the dev team couldn't foresee this scenario and build in an alternative 2FA method, what other basic functions did it overlook? This is not the only eBike in town, so investors should be happy to know this incompetence is driving business to the competition. Donkey Republic can't be bothered to answer its support chat. Massive fail 👎

Can be very convenient but needs improvement
Sometimes the app is great and easy to use. Other times, you’re in a dead zone with hardly any bikes around, and the one you see on the map is NOWHERE to be found in real life. I don’t get why this happens but it’s incredibly frustrating especially when you have somewhere to be. Also, not all donkey bikes are created equal, and some of these old rickety ones need to just be taken off the streets.
App broken
This app shows 0 bikes available in all of Copenhagen and is completely broken.
Smooth in Barcelona.
Just did a week in Barcelona and this app/bike service worked like a charm. Easy to sign up and get going on a bike.
Traveling with a data only eSIM.
I am traveling with a data only eSIM. So this app is completely worthless to me because it requires a phone number. This seems like a major oversight by the company and is extremely frustrating.
Great service!
The bikes are good, and the service is great! Very easy to use with many bikes available in Aarhus. We had an issue with a bike and reached out to customer service. They quickly responded late at night and were able to make the necessary changes as to not impact our use at all!
Never again
Tried for the first time using a free 45’ promo in Copenhagen. Easy enough to join and unlock. Tried ending before 40’ and suddenly ‘connection problems’, would not lock or end. 10’ later tried to resolve thru chat and after providing all info chat was suddenly ended. Tried emailing, no resolution. The next day (and after having left the country) received text asking whether I was still using. No I am not as I informed by text and email. Ended with a +$29 charge to my credit card. Deleted the app and never using again.

I had nightmare experience in Amsterdam with Donoey Republic. Faulty lock/app connectivity issues. NOT WORTH IT!!! Please trust me, save yourself the headache
