You send alerts but there is no way to see what the actual change in status of the incident is when you go to it. You really need an activity log so that you can easily see what the status change is that caused the notification. Otherwise you’re wondering if the app isn’t updating or what the status was and what’s changed.
Give us back Fires Near Me. I don’t want or need to see SES alerts and yet I cannot disable them. Every time I select RFS only it just goes back to showing SES alerts after a short period. Was great but has lost its way.
when we were getting mostly burnt out in the 2019 NSW fires the old Fires near me app was a useful resource. its successor Hazards has been a mixed bag. registration by email / password has never worked for me. finally cracked & joined it to a throwaway Google account
Extremely useful to have when living in bushfire prone areas, but could benefit from the addition of a map overlay showing wind speeds and direction. As others have mentioned - would be good if ‘resolved’ incidents were cleared from the active notification list and/or perhaps shown on the map with a different icon to indicate a recent event that has been resolved.
I’m thinking of uninstalling the app because it’s sending me daily notifications saying no hazards today
Updated December 2024: Possibly an iOS issue. My old phone can’t update beyond v15 and app still works fine. Decided to create an account, thinking this might be the problem. But, no. Can only set a radius of 50km from a given point, resulting in a patchwork of multiple 50km watch zones from Sydney to just over the Victorian border. Push notifications set but a fire within one 50km watch zone was not notified. And so on. By contrast, VICEmergency allows a 100km radius and includes helpful extras like “dangerous animal” - alerting me to the presence of a dangerous animal in a local river (bull shark) 12 hours away!! For all the money that was donated after the terrible fires in 2019/20, you’d think they could afford a better app. I recently updated my phone and various apps. I have repeatedly re-set the watch zone and received various alerts, only to received a repeated “server error” when I try to check. The watch zones also disappear. Do users need to create a login for the app to function correctly? This needs to be rectified ASAP. Thankfully our Victorian friends have an app that crosses over in certain areas of southern NSW.
I just ignore the notifications now because there are so many in my watch area.
Why let me create watch zones when every time I go into the app or tap on a notification the app glitches, says I have no notifications (without letting me view them) and removes my watch zones. Love the idea and that you can see where the fires etc are but it needs work.
I don’t need to repeat all the other reports on constructive feedback, but it really gets to a point where this is obviously falling on deaf ears. This app is supposed to be the source of truth, however its functionality(or lack of) and lack of intuitive interface makes you really not want to use it…. Now that really does say something! I’m beginning to wonder why I use it…
