Works with Zwift
I tested Heartcast using an Apple Watch 5 and an iPhone XR, pairing it to Zwift. It works. It does require a little more effort than using a normal Bluetooth HRM but it’s a good option if you don’t own another HRM.

Instructions
1) Start HeartCast App on your watch and iPhone
Heart Rate will sync between the two devices.
2) On your Watch, press the Start button to begin a workout. This enables bluetooth and begins to broadcast your heart rate to nearby devices. It also enables HeartCast to run in the background during your workout.
3) Breathe easily and never wear those uncomfortable chest straps again.

Does not work
iOS 18.1, garmin 1050, started HeartCast, sensor added, but no data field.
Uncoded transmission please
My treadmill only receives uncoded heart rate monitor transmissions. Would love to have my Apple Watch transmit uncoded heart rate data to my treadmill. I thought this would work, but the treadmill does not receive the signal. It does not have the capability to receive coded heart rate signals. It would be great if you were able to add an uncoded transmission in this app.
More reliable than Zwift
I started using this after a few years of struggling with Zwift’s built in Apple Watch support. This app just works when I use it to get my HR to Zwift. Sometimes I have to wait a half minute for it to pick up my HR but then it works for the full activity. I’ve probably used it 20-30 times without issue.

Thanks for the good heart rate app. It is a little tedious to start every thing but it works.
App works but is very temperamental
App works well once it is broadcasting but often it takes between two and five minutes to get the app and watch to see each other and start broadcasting the heart rate.
Simply doesn't work
Tried to use this to broadcast my HR to my cycling computer. It just doesn't work.
Bummer
This did work reliably and then for some reason it doesn’t anymore. I use it to connect to my peloton. Bummer.
Difficulty with Karoo 2
I can pair and it says it’s connected, but either I’m dead or my HR is zero. Tried re-pairing with no success.
Awesome app
Thank you Shawn for putting this app together and making this app free. The app overall works with Hydrow but was a little clunky in getting it to connect but did stay connected during workouts. Only feature I would ask for is the ability to change your broadcast name of your heart rate monitor. It does take a few tries to connect but overall the UI is good. Thanks again for this app it is a lifesaver for something Hydrow should have originally added in their platform.
