The first series, Coping with Stress, constitutes the core practice curriculum of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, USA. They can be used together with Full Catastrophe Living: Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face Stress, Pain, and Illness (revised, 2013). These series include for example:
Body Scan
Mindful Yoga
Sitting Meditation
The second series focuses on mindfulness in everyday life. These meditations go well together with Jon’s book, Wherever You Go, There You Are: Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life. These series include, for example:
Short, medium and long duration sitting meditation
Lying down meditation practice
The third series, Healing Yourself and the World, provides an opportunity to go deeper into the meditation practice. These meditations go with the book, Coming to Our Senses: Healing Ourselves and the World Through Mindfulness (2005). It offers guided meditations on:
- Body scan
- Breath work
- Meditations on choiceless awareness
- Meditations on loving-kindness
These practices will take you deeper and help improve your focus, compassion, relaxation, and well-being.

More about Jon
Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD is internationally known for his work as a scientist, writer, and meditation teacher engaged in bringing mindfulness into the mainstream of medicine and society. He is Professor of Medicine emeritus at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where he founded its world-renowned Stress Reduction Clinic in 1979, and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society (in 1995) Jon is the author of fourteen books published in over 45 languages, including:

A true gem of an app

I’ve been using the JKZ meditation app for 6 months now and it’s making a huge difference to my life. I’ve tried a lot of other apps to find something to help build a meditation habit/routine - but this is the standout one for three reasons: simplicity, sincerity and a sense of connection. All of Jon Kabat Zinn’s guided meditations are gathered in one place and easy to access. His teachings are fairly simple and solid: the only time we have is now; we don’t need “fixing” because we are already whole; our awareness is always able to encompass whatever thoughts or feelings we have. Simple…but not always easy! But Jon is an immensely compassionate and wise guide and between the meditations and live sessions (which I watch as recordings) it really does feel like being part of a global online community or sangha. There is a (very minimal) subscription fee which can be paid monthly or annually but you do get the sense that this money is more about running costs than it is about cashing-in on current trends in mindfulness meditation. Highly recommended.

First review I’ve ever written on my iPhone but this app is something else. It’s really got me into mindfulness easily and effortlessly and I’m seeing such benefits I’m just weeks. This should be every person’s go to for clarity, peace, healing and insights and wisdom. Regardless of their religion or lack of. The good intention of the founder pours through. When you think of the value you are getting here for pennies compared to extortion of so many others who are nowhere near as qualified yet charge the earth for so little real return. 🙏

I have tried to set this up many times and it never sends e mail for subscribing or says password does not work when I have literally just reset it - v dissappointing - had to give up

Brilliant - one of the better meditation practices

This is a responsive and deep meditation app which supports the book on understanding pain and pain management. It has a gentle and mindful approach to meditation with some yoga instruction which is suitable for both experienced and beginner practitioners. The variety of meditations ensures that practise remains engaging and although it has no bells and whistles like some of the other apps that I tried, I would thoroughly recommend it. Enjoy!
