Only thing i miss is support of fb2 files.
The only independent ebook reader out of scores of those checked by me - that supports epub3 books fully, including beautiful pop-up notes. There are some minor issues with re-connecting to OPDS catalogs (I had to delete and re-launch the search in order to reconnect), there are some issues with the bookshelf user interface (I’d love to see it be able to ‘stack’ the books by groups, instead of showing a rather ugly folder structure), but otherwise this is the ONLY independent reader I’d recommend - also because the developer is responsive, helpful and kind enough to explain various epub matters to the most inexperienced users! Thank you!
Recently moved to this reader from abandoned Bukus. Very fast & convenient application, support team is responsive and helpful. Some additional things can be easily customized (context menu options, reading style etc). The only thing I was surprised of was related to automatic sync between the devices - it works in manual mode only and can’t be changed (yet). Hope developers will improve it in future releases. Thanks.
How come I can’t do custom order of PDF books?
I love this app. I own a Kindle and an iPad, and both Amazon and Apple could take lessons on what features should be in a reading app from this one. With that said, I really wish this app worked on the Mac as well as on an iPad. The Apple Books app is terrible, without any good way to organize a large library. The Calibre app is great for organizing a library, editing ebooks (ebooks without DRM, and so many ebooks today come with a large number of typos that they need editing), and tracking metadata, but Calibre’s reading applet leaves much to be desired. Maple Read lets me sort books by author, series, series number, and then title, making it much easier to find books that belong to a series and where they belong in that series, much like Calibre, but it also lets me control the fonts and display when reading, an area where Calibre is quite limited. I don’t know what is required to make an iPad app work on an M1, M2, or M3 Mac, but I think a lot of readers would prefer this to Apple Books, if you could make it available to us. Thank you.
Why don’t more people know about MapleRead? I’ve been using this now for several years and couldn’t ever go back to Apple’s app. No way. Updates are regular and it truly deserves to be better known. A++++
Great and love it. Please make this for android!
I wanted a reader that would let me import epubs, read with font+layout+colors customizations, and provide good text to speach for when listening feels easier than actually reading. This app executes on these things solidly. I can't remember what I paid for this app, but it doesn't feel like I paid enough given its high quality. One thing I didn't realize I wanted to have at the time, was the ability to easily import books from calibre. This app even autodetects your local calibre server. Additionally, the app lets you turn your iphone library into a server to sync books to other services. I'm not sure why this app doesn't get more 5 star reviews, but it should. Thanks for making such a great product.
Amazing application, thank you all so much for your hard work! After switching to MapleReaderSE I haven't felt a single itch or urge to switch ebook readers again. It makes tablet and phone reading a pleasure and feels like the natural companion to Calibre in the eReader ecosystem. My eReader Journey: BluefireReader -> Books(apple) -> Kindle -> Marvin 3 -> FBReader -> MapleReaderSE (for good!)
Love the app and its connectivity! I have a couple of wishes… Wish for highlighter improvements in Dark Mode annotations. The Problem is that the text stays white after you annotate/highlight in dark mode and because of the bright colors of the highlighter it makes it now difficult to read the white letters against the bright color of highlighted annotations. Make the letters black when highlighted. Maybe if underlining could be implemented it would be really good to but that’s my second wish. Great Job Developers!
