Rinnai Control-r 2.0™

This app is terrible. Half The time it doesn’t work. I can press “turn on water heater” and nothing happens. Please rewrite this app. I need my water heater

After I enter my information to create an account and hit the create my account button the app just closes out and doesn’t create an account.

This app is redundant with the rinnai central app, and more limited in options. I’m not sure why you would use it versus central. They are both pretty glitchy, filled with bugs, and offer only limited information about the device they’re connected to. Probably not even worth it unless you have a recirc pump, buttons, or some other auxiliary device.

Why do I have to log in so often? It’s a water heater not my bank account. Who is going to hack a water heater?

What a bad app. Disconnects every two days and I have to go and unplug and plug it for it to make it work. Extremely poor experience using this. Should improve the reliability of your devices and services by a vast amount. It doesn’t build customer trust.

The app and the features that are supposed to be available don’t work. Whoever is responsible for for their app dev apparently left 2 years ago. No updates and now it is completely unusable. “Control failed” is the only thing it says, no matter what I try to do. When this water heater needs to be replaced, I won’t be buying a Rinnai.

After an hour trying to get this to connect I’m giving up. Each time is a different failure. I got the lights to blink green and blue and the app to recognize it only to click continue and have the app immediately crash. How this is even a real product makes no sense.

Multiple attempts. Gets to last step, light is solid blue and the app crashes. Rinnai is aware of this and yet it’s not working. After contacting Rinnai they fixed it over the phone. Contacted Rinnai, they said “ That means you have a false pending. I can fix that for you. What is the serial number on the back of the black box, and you email used to create the account?”
