Was a little hesitant after reading all the terrible reviews. Latest update seems to work pretty well. Make sure you update your helmets firmware using a computer before you pair it to your phone. That seemed to be the trick for me at least. Now Sena can you please make a MIPS helmet!

This app is complete garbage. Wish I could give it negative stars. My wife and I have the exact same versions of the app but hers looks and functions different than mine and we can’t connect our helmets on intercom which was the whole point of buying them. I might smash it with a hammer to let out my frustration and buy a new brand. And tech support is non existent. Trash app and trash company. Wish I would have read reviews before I listened to the person at the bike shop and bought 2 helmets!

The helmet mesh system in the M1 Evo is a good idea…..BUT, the app calls for a firmware update through the Device Manager but it doesn’t work, will not recognize the helmet at all, they need to fix it so you can update via the App, leave the computer out of it. The response from Tech Support has been awful and super slow at best. Many months and still no resolution to this issue. If you want to talk to others buy a radio for your belt instead!

Can’t update the Sena Utility so developers create this other app which is even worse.

I have owned two Sena bike helmets. I love the idea of being able to talk with fellow riders, being able to safely listen to music or occasionally answer a phone while commuting. Being able to communicate with other riders is a huge safety feature. However the helmet and it’s firmware is still way too glitchy. The helmets do not connect to one another with the ease one would expect. Further - the app is not reliable and technical support from their website is terrible. When it all works it’s a great way to make cycling safer and even more enjoyable. But it’s still too glitchy particularly for a second generation product.

Blue tooth is almost impossible to utilize with your poorly designed App. Very disappointed in an otherwise good helmet!

Brand new R2 helmet, doesn’t connect. Firmware can’t be upgraded without a computer. FM radio function that was promised doesn’t work. Intercom doesn’t work while letting me listen to music. All in all a total disappointment!

I’m a loyal user of Sena motorcycle intercoms so was very happy to see they put out bicycle helmets and bought two so I can listen to music while I ride while still being able to chat with others. Unlike the motorcycle device you CANNOT listen to music and chat at same time. You have to press the intercom button which is hit and miss on connecting. If you are trying to warn others of some danger you won’t have time for this process and ultimately we end up not using intercom at all which means the major selling point of these helmets doesn’t work. Additionally the firmware can’t be upgraded without a computer- which I don’t carry on bike trips so I have been getting upgrade warnings for weeks. The FM radio function is not available in my M1 helmet. Lastly this app doesn’t connect with the M1 helmet so there’s yet another annoyance.

My iPhone Bluetooth says it is connected yet when the app tries to “find the device,” the wheel Kees spinning and spinning with no results. My husbands worked fine, why isn’t mine? I have e tried 3 times to delete app and reinstall with same results.

We just got our helmets and when trying to connect the intercom, received a message to upgrade software on our device. The menu has no further information or way to do it on the app. We had to search out instructions online (not immediately easy) and then update via a computer. It would be good if you had easy instructions on the app menu how to do this. Also no way to remove a device for intercoms once it’s been added. I presume you can replace it when the time comes but the app is not intuitive or easy with certain things. Very frustrating to keep receiving pop up messages about update with no information how to do it. I don’t carry a computer when I’m biking so this all had to wait until we returned home.
