This app is a hidden gem in ocean of App Store.
Delightful Tours for the Whole Family
We discovered Shaka Guide last year driving around the Big Island of Hawaii. We had 15 people of all ages for a family reunion and bought the bundle. It made exploring the whole island at our own pace so much fun. This summer we realized they also had a California bundle and our three kids all loved listening to Uncle Shaka’s fascinating stories (and corny jokes!) as we drove through Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon. I love that these work without cell service. Before any trip, I’m going to first check if there’s a Shaka tour available. I wish these had existed when I was a kid!
Would recommend to anyone
Downloaded this tour on a whim. It was great! There were multiple stops we would have missed had we tried to do the tour on our own. We especially liked having the history lessons on the way back. Worth every penny!
Great self guided tours
We’ve now used Shaka Guides in the Big Island and Maui. We have found things we wouldn’t have ever known about if it were not for this app. The kids eventually warmed up to it. This is much more cost efficient than the tours you pay for in the islands. It’s worth it to just buy all the island tours when on sale if you think you will likely visit other islands in the future. Amazing guide & app
Much better than an actual tour guide, explains everything in detail and tells you where to go and not go. Also explains history while doing the tour which was amazing! There are many choices of tours, the classic road to hana was amazing! will definitely use again when traveling!
Did not work well
Sort of worked as a map, but I had one of those already. Nothing else, including the audio worked.
Great way to go to Hana
Traveling through Maui with our family of 4 makes it difficult to get to those super early tours. This was super convenient since we had already rented a vehicle. We could go at our own pace, decide where to stop and when to turn back. The narrator was entertaining and we learned so much about Hawaii’s history.
Road to Hana
Having done the Road to Hana trip multiple times, this narrated tour was great and provided new insight to the history of the area. Would highly recommend.
