KV331 Audio is proud to announce the availability of their award winning software synthesizer SynthMaster 2.9 on iOS platform. As being the first app developed using KV331 Audio’s new cross-platform UI framework, SynthMaster 2 runs as a standalone app or AUv3 plugin on iPads with iOS 11 and above.
SynthMaster 2 supports native resolutions of various iPad devices. User interfaces are provided for 9.7, 11 and 12.9 inch iPads in 4 different skins (Blue, White, Dark, Proto). Separate interfaces are provided for the AudioUnit plugin as well.
SynthMaster 2 comes with 1000 factory presets designed by world class sound designers such as BigTone, Nori Ubukata, NatLife and Yuli Yolo. Thanks to the comprehensive preset browsing features, users can easily filter presets by author name, bank name, instrument type or preset name and find the sounds that they are looking for.
There’s also an IAP Shop, which lets users purchase additional sounds:
1. "Desktop Presets Upgrade": This IAP adds all factory presets in SynthMaster 2.9, increasing the total preset count to 2000.
2. "All Expansions Bundle": This IAP adds all current 38 SynthMaster preset expansion banks.
Sound Engine:
At the heart of SynthMaster 2’s powerful sound engine lies its oscillators, modulators, and filters.
Oscillators:
The oscillators can operate in 4 different modes to generate sound:
1. In Basic mode, the oscillator plays single cycle waveforms or samples. With the Oscillator Unison turned on, up to 8 voices per oscillator can be played.
2. In Additive mode, 8 Basic oscillators can be stacked up to create richer tones.
3. In Wavetable mode, the oscillator can play wavetables with up to 256 frames.
4. In Vector mode, 4 Basic oscillators are mixed in 2 dimensions.
Modulators:
Modulators are simply basic oscillators that can be added to other oscillators or modulate other oscillators’ or modulators’ phases. By connecting modulators to other oscillators or modulators, complex FM tones can be synthesized.
Importing Wave Files into SynthMaster:
While designing sounds, users can easily import wave files into SynthMaster 2. SynthMaster 2 can categorize those files into waveforms, wavetables or multi samples and import them accordingly.
Filters:
Once the sound is generated by the oscillators it goes through SynthMaster’s filters, which can operate in 6 different categories: Digital, VAnalog, Ladder, Diode Ladder, State Variable and Bite.
Custom distortion can be applied before or after the filters as well.
Modulation Architecture:
SynthMaster 2 features a comprehensive modulation architecture with a wide range of modulation sources:
1. MIDI controls
2. Macros controls
3. 4 ADSR envelopes per layer
4. 4 Multisegmented envelopes per payer
5. 4 LFOs per layer
6. 4 Sequencers per layer
7. 4 Keyscalers per layer
There’s real-time visual feedback that lets users see how modulation sources and targets are changing when a note is being played. This is extremely helpful when designing sounds with SynthMaster 2.
New modulations can be created easily by dragging and dropping a modulation source onto a knob or slider control.
Users can easily see which controls are modulated by a modulation source by clicking on that source. Controls that are being modulated by that source will display modulation amounts. By long pressing a control, the modulation amount can be edited without the need to go through the mod matrix.
Arp/Sequencer:
SynthMaster features a comprehensive arpeggiator / sequencer with 32 steps. Users can easily create sequences by recording steps one by one.
Effects:
Each of the 2 layers in SynthMaster has 5 insert effect slots. 13 different types of effects can be instantiated in any of those slots. There are also 2 global effect send busses which can be used to create more complex effect routings.

pc版の音作りの学習用に購入
このソフト音源はpc版も出ていて、pc版のVSTのsynthmaster2.9はプリセットで膨大な音色が収録されていて愛用していますが、最近は自分でも音作りを始めて、iPad版もあれば隙間時間にタブレットで色々音作りを学習したりできると思って購入しました。 FMシンセ的にモジュレーションをかけて音を変化させられるし、波形は膨大な数から選べられるし、WAVファイルも読み込み可能です。 本当に色々な音が作れます。 布団の中でiPad触りながら色々な音作りが出来るのがありがたい。 pcでdawソフト使ってる人はpc版synth master2はこまめにセールをやってかなり安いのでそっちも買っておくのをおすすめします。 シンセ系のソフト音源としてはかなり良い物だと思います。
音に存在感
良いアプリなので､何かあれば作曲で使いたいです。
使える音色が多い
このアプリだけで、普通の人がシンセに期待する音色をほぼ出せるのではないかと思うほどプリセットが充実している。星を付けた、インスピレーションが湧くプリセット音色だけでも相当な数になった。 トルコの開発だけあって、マイクロチューニングにも対応。 但し、プリセットのいくつかは0dbを超えてノイズが出る。FXにリミッターを追加して欲しい。
待ちに待った万能シンセ(追記)
とにかく頻繁にプリセットがおかしくなったりアップデート毎にバグを作ると言っても過言ではない不安定さのためメインとしては到底使う気になれない。 いろいろと対応が緩慢なサポートで基本は定型文による次のアップデートにて対策予定ということになる。しかし元からアップデート頻度の高いデベロッパーではないため緊急アップデート対応とかは望めない、よって問題が発生しても何ヶ月も放置されたままになる。 音はいいのにいろいろと残念なアプリである。 ↓以下が以前のレビュー↓ 比較的機能を絞った位置づけのOneでも充分素晴らしいが、より幅広いジャンルでの使用や音作りを求めるのならばやっぱりこちらの方に軍配が上がる。しかしその分音作りの難易度も上がるので初心者向けのシンセアプリではない。 音色や機能については申し分なく、もちろん使うジャンルにもよるがスペックとしてはiOSシンセアプリ最強レベルと言っても過言ではないかと思う。 一からじっくり音作りに没頭するもよし、またデスクトップ版を使ってる人は膨大なプリセットが使えたりもする事から100点満点。 だが決してわかりやすいUIとは言い難くアプリのポテンシャルを発揮するのは容易ではないことから即簡単に作れるような音を出したいなら他のアプリとの使い分けが効率的かと思われる。 まだ突然落ちたりと不安定な面もあるが、出たばかりなのでこれからのアップデートに期待。 しかしながらApp内課金の内容やデスクトップ版とのシンク、購入済みエクスパンションの管理や連携、長くて似通ったエクスパンション名などその辺のわかりづらさは相変わらずである事が残念ポイントなので星一つマイナス。
Preset management is a buggy nightmare
The synth parts of this app are great and lots of fun. Would give that 5 stars, but when you start trying to save and manage your own presets the nightmare begins. The browser is horribly confusing and buggy when it comes to user presets. So many weird glitchy behaviors. There seems to be a fundamental very basic bug with how banks are associated with patches. The patches sort by name but don’t always reflect that. The lists have weird selection bugs where sometime multiple things show as selected and you can’t unselect. Hard to figure out how to delete an old version of a preset. When you do finally discover the delete option it seems like it can only delete entire banks? Also deleting a preset seems to delete all copies of it? Moving presets between banks is way harder than it should be. The UI lets you select and drag presets around. Great! But dropping them into different preset banks does nothing. Very frustrating to have hours of work on a preset ruined by weird deletion, sorting, and bank management behavior.

Synthmaster 2 for ipad is so expansive, I haven’t even had a chance to check it all out yet. Everything I have done, so far, has sounded great and was exactly what I was looking for from Synthmaster. I’m going to be tweaking knobs and sounds for awhile with this app. Synthmaster 2 is great! - Grey F♾️l

Probably the best synth on iOS … and I have just about every synth on the AppStore! Every Korg, Moog, AudioKit, apesoft, Yonac, VirSyn, as well as the 100’s of others. I will say SynthMaster 2 sounds as good as the big boys on my Mac Silicon and Windows 11 !!! I just seen that SynthMaster 3 is in beta (God I wish I could have been a tester and make killer patches) oh well! Buy this Synth if you haven’t already, I promise it’s the best sounding synth on iPad and the control is like NO OTHER on iOS
SynthMaster2 is a must have
This is 1 of the very best synths for IOS. It has every thing you can think of for an IOS synth. It does has some bugs. But I’ve been told by the people that put this app out, those bugs will be fixed in a major update soon to come out. Is it worth the money? Yes indeed. Are the preset extensions worth the money? Again yes indeed. I bought all 34 of them, while their still on sale. This is a must have. It’s at the top of the list for all the IOS synths that I have. NEW REVIEW AS OF 08-17-2023 The more I dig into this the more I’m finding it truly has and can offer. I now as I’ve said bought all the amazing expansions that were on sale, discount ($22.00) all 34 of them. I’m going into and exploring all the tempo settings, arp settings and mod wheel setting, etc for each and every preset and adding drum tracks. If you want the treasure this has to offer, you have to dig for it. And as a Prospector I am definitely finding Gold. I cannot wait till Synthmaster 3 comes out. Full usable version in December of this year I’m told.
Layer 2 sustain
Have an annoying problem with layer 2 on many patches sustains indefinitely no explanation. The app is really fantastic and one patch can create many variations. I just purchased Korg Modwave and this app has many of the qualities of its features love it
