Tech-Air® App

This app used to work for my Tech Air 10 and it was great to know how much charge was in the system or in the LED. But now this app says it’s for the Tech Air 5. Well I have both Tech Air systems and this app will not pair up with either system. Yes, I know … I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well as shutting off my phone and turning it back on. It’s very NOT reassuring going out on the track wondering what the status is for your air bag protection.

I’ve had the vest for 3 days and haven’t been able to use it. Why? The app. This is a review of the app not the vest. I get the vest home a s fully charge it. I download the app and I can’t pair the vest with the app. The says already a paired. I call and I have to email tech support they won’t take phone calls. They keep telling me to do the same thing and I keep telling them (via email) that it doesn’t work. I call again and I get someone who tells me that it wa likely paired to another phone at some point. So they have to reach to Italy and have them unpair the vest with the previous phone. After that gets done(a day later) the app won’t update the firmware. Again I can’t talk to anyone they make me email them. We are about 12 emails in at this point and I’ve gotten zero help. They keep telling me to do stuff I’ve already tried..”send a picture of this, you must do that to make the download work” and I keep telling them I’ve done this. I’ve given them my phone number and they won’t call me. I’m going on day 4. The reason I can’t use the vest is that it’s in race mode and I won’t use it on the street learning to ride when it’s stuck in race mode. I’m sure the vest is solid but the fact I can’t use it because of an app is stupid. Alpinestars invest in technology for your app or just get rid of it and hire tech phone support so you don’t drive your customers insane with frustration.

The app shows broken stats and location. I ride in California, it shows the map of Australia without the route. The stats shows zeroes. I checked, the location is set to Always, so no, it’s not phon settings. If the app is buggy, I assume the whole system can be buggy. And I invest big $ into this product because it’s supposed to save my life.

I followed the written manual and on-screen instructions and had no issues pairing the system and updating the firmware. Everything worked just fine for me.

This app isn’t bad. I don’t understand how many people are crying saying it doesn’t work blah blah blah. Buy a better phone then? I’m on iPhone 14 & have had zero issues with this app. Updating the firmware works fine, operating it works fine. Don’t trust the Karen’s with $5 Walmart phones to justify your reason to not buy this tech air 5 / use the app.

Unable to pair or update firmware. Unable to do anything.

I am unable to see the systems that I have paired but the ap continually says system already added. I cannot see them anywhere though in my tech air systems.

App is so inconsistent, can’t even set up the Tech Air 5. Says that the system is added but will not show the system in the app, it just continues to try and scan another system. I tried redownloading as others have mentioned, but then my device was blocked due to unusual activity. I’m not sure if they blew the budget on R&D and just gave up on the actual app interface that we interact with. But I will reiterate what others have said, $800 is a lot to spend for a air bag that has an app that can hardly support it. Hopefully we see some improvements with the roll out of the Tech Air Off-road.

Nothing but problems trying to update the suits firmware, concerned that suit is not going to do the job if needed. Never had these issues with Dainese suit with integrated airbag. Went with the Tech Air 10 for the body coverage but just like the Tech Air 5 it’s a bug ridden mess and I’m not confident it will deploy. I’ll be moving to the Dainese slim vest and wear it under an Alpinestars suit. Error 12…

Always fails to update vest software. I am literally holding the phone to to the vest. Both, the vest and wled batteries are fully charged and plugged. Tech air 10
