Thirdfort

This app asks for and stores way more information than is necessary. In addition to scanning my passport it also tried to scan the chip in my passport. I quit this process halfway through both because I couldn’t get the chip scan to work but more importantly I don’t trust this random app with this much information. When I tried to delete my account it informed me I’m not allowed to do so without prior approval of a solicitor!!! This is outrageous - it’s my data not Thirdfort’s or the solicitors. If this is the process fine but you need to tell people that upfront so they can make their own decisions about whether they trust Thirdfort and/or the solicitor to delete this data when they are finished. Reasonable to use but I thought some of the instructions were not clear and ambiguous Didn’t like the persistent request for rating at each step. At the end there is a statement that a reply may take a few minutes. Still waiting. Does this app only operate UK business hours Also have to take off glasses for photo and video which meant I couldn’t see the instructions which probably resulted in a poor result

This app is stupid and should not be used by the lethal community.

Solicitor requested use of this app as part of ID check and information gathering for a house purchase. The app is easy to use, but OMG it’s like selling your soul. Under the guise of ease, the app tries to encourage you to share way too much information. And your information isn’t only held by Thirdfort, but also at least one service provider. Some of the highlights: Thirdfort doesn’t even do the ID check but uses another service provider for this (Onfido IIRC). So your personal information doesn’t only go to Thirdfort. Of course, this service provider will necessarily retain at least some of your personal information for purposes of establishing an audit trail. Thirdfort also requests logging into your bank account. Madness. There is absolutely no need to allow such general access and for such detailed information. This, fortunately, can be avoided by uploading statements. Avoid if you can. If I had the time and energy to instruct an alternative solicitor not using Thirdfort, I would have. I will next time.

Awful

App crashes or doesn’t submit things when you press the button. The guidance on what to do isn’t clear and there’s no upfront clarification of the things you’ll need. Doesn’t tell you what to do if you don’t have an up to date passport (but can be found if you ask the right thing in the support chat). Also had an issue taking a video because the app insists my microphone is being used by another app when it isn’t.

Asks stupid questions like : “ Upload a copy of your payslip” when occupation is retired. What payslip do you get from state pensions? They don’t have all the banks in their list, thus one has to upload 6 months of statements — in paperless society, who has 6 months of statements on hand. Taking a video is restricted to 20 seconds, then the app Hans-Günter and one has to restart the process

You go through all the hassle of scanning ids, taking selfies, entering your address etc and you get to the last stage which is scanning a utility bill. And guess what it asks you to scan another document even though it only asks for one. And most utility bills are digital these days anyway. Finally gave up and sent docs as attachments via email to the solicitors. What a total waste of time.

I was a bit nervous based on other reviews but this app only requests information that the requested requests. I can see why people are nervous about using the app, it could do with a tutorial and some information about how the app manages the security of the data. Open bank made the process so much easier (it’s read only but if you aren’t comfortable doing this you can upload statements manually). ID check was quick and more responsive/less error prone than what I’ve worked with in the past. Saved all my progress so I could do in multiple sittings. Based on other reviews: Don’t click links, I just downloaded the app directly from the App Store, entered my phone number and after an MFA check saw the request as well as who it was from (my solicitor). I would be interested to know what security is in place to authorise who can request information through the app?

I downloaded on my iPad first since the app did not make it clear that you require nfc. Once it got to the nfc step it broke. So I tried logging in with my phone, but now I get no transactions.
