This Old House

The new 2024 app displays incorrect episode descriptions, which is frustrating. They also removed the feature that allowed you to easily scrub forward or back 10 seconds just by pressing the right or left buttons on your remote. Navigating through videos now takes several additional clicks and is less precise. Last, TOH has an iconic logo and blue color scheme! Why on earth is the new icon dull gray with the entire phrase “This Old House” jammed on it in minuscule print?

After joining as a paying customer, the TOH app would not accept my paid membership status when viewing on my streaming devices, and was requiring me to select another subscription and double charge me for access. I emailed customer service 4 times without resolution for 3 weeks. So I cancelled and requested a refund. I love TOH but the lack of customer service and any effort to correct the issue is unacceptable.

App is just kind of sloppy. The show descriptions are for shows for other seasons, the shows sometimes feed into the next episodes but sometimes lock up and crash the app instead, if you need closed captions, you have to turn them on for each and every show, etc. Endlessly frustrating. However, the content is extremely valuable and presented in a lucid and entertaining way.

So nice to see good friends doing great work and showing their love for each other.

Was able to view most recent episode of TOH but got error message when attempting to view Ask TOH: The operation couldn’t be completed. (kBCOVPlaybackServiceErrorDomain error 3.)

Not a fan of the apps new layout, but will get use to it I guess.. My main concern is why get rid of the iconic blue that is normally associated with This Old House?

I watch on the AppleTV app. This new app redesign completely did away with the ability to browse and watch segments by topic. This was a very useful feature. Now, you can barely view any segments, and they are categorized by just a few things like How to, Build it, What is it. Whereas before, you could browse by topics like Attics, Basements, Bathrooms, etc.

Fix the bugs!!

You have to fix the bug that crashes the app when you hit the back button after an episode ends. Also, how in 2024 do you not have a watched indicator so we can track which episodes we’ve watched and what the progress is.

Since iOS17. The video audio does not stop on app exit or Lock Screen. Also love channel audio does not stop if you switch to another channel. You get both audio streams at the same time
