I haven’t really ever had a problem using the app to book tickets, but trying to use it - or the website. - would test the patience of a saint. I’ve never managed to make it work. It’s so appalling, I can’t only assume that’s exactly how the designed it (not) work. Surely, no app developers could unintentionally make a process so spectacularly awful.
Despite setting and saving my password from previous bookings there was yet another issues, so I have just processed this as a guest

This is how not to do an app. Nothing is intuitive, outdated, awkward and annoying to use. Scrap it and start again.
app with basic app. ridiculous launch times to open it for a train ticket app. I have to wait up to 10-20 seconds for the app to open.
App can take intermittently take ages to open. Also today I logged on and the app informed me there was an offer for multiflex tickets ending today so went to buy tickets and use the offer but there was no offer when getting to the checkout really poor in app alerts.
Assumed to new app would be better, but will be deleting again. It remains a pretty useless app and cumbersome to use etickets without the ability to add the to Apple wallet. So you always have to open the app for ticket checks. If you don’t want to pay Trainline fees, use another rail company such as Northern who have compatibility with Wallet.
The app only works sometimes, then doesn’t recognise your password. you send a password reset email and it says that the new password doesn’t meet the criteria, to the extent that you give up and buy the ticket as a guest. This is very poor when TFW are threatening to fine people ( at my local train station there is no ticket booth and the machine is hopeless).
Downloaded to avoid Trainline’s booking fees while travelling in Wales. The app works, but it is not a good experience. As soon as I had registered I tried to add my address. The postcode search found my address, but only after I realised I had to tap on the tiny “>” symbol to select it. Tapping on the text (“X number of addresses found” or some such) next to this symbol aborted the search. Happily, it turns out this doesn’t really matter as selecting your address does nothing. It takes you to the manual entry screen, but the app does not populate the input boxes. Again, this is not a problem as, once you have taken the time to enter your address, the save button does nothing. Did no one take the time to test this?
