Missing basic functionality
The app is OK but misses basic functionality such as the ability to search transactions over a certain timeframe or from a specific vendor/retailer/service provider. This all pretty standard stuff and is available for other financial providers. This used to be something that could be done via a laptop of desktop but now all account management is seemingly done via the app.
Doesn’t display full balance.
Despite several updates the app only displays a truncated balance. This happens on the your summary page, app displays £1, 23… No idea why, only credit card app I have that cannot display the full balance. Obviously no way to send screen shots as only a phone number provided, like we used to do 20yrs ago 🙄
From the developers response, it sounds like there is no allowance for any kind of accessibility issues.
Yet I have First Direct, MBNA, NatWest and Barclays apps all working flawlessly.
The irony that when you delete and attempt to reinstall, half the text explaining the install is truncated.
How about providing a contact method where screen shots can be sent?
Ok but approving transactions doesn’t work
The app is fine. It mostly does what you want a credit card app to do - monitor your balance, track transactions.
Unfortunately the “Approve transactions” functionality doesn’t work - I’ve had three transactions in the last few days, gone into the app, pressed Approve and then the squiggly letter just keeps showing and it never approves. So you have to use the send me a code option. Not the end of the world, but annoying.
Last update messed this app!
Since the last update and the initial supposed help screens the hone page does not open after clearing the messages and the summary page is blank.
Additional card error
Annoying that it will not allow me to add my new Virgin Atlantic credit card in the app. I already have a Virgin credit card and cannot access my new one. Have tried a few days now and I just keep getting the same message saying “it’s not you, it’s us, please try again later”
Improved nothing
What improvements have been made exactly? The app crashes constantly on 5g and WiFi …. And just refuses to load, almost as if it can’t handle the speeds … appalling app
Decent Overall but…
As banking apps go, this one is pretty user friendly and simple to navigate. It’s let down however by the lack of ‘additional cardholder’ options. Via the app, I added my son as an additional cardholder and he duly received his own named credit card (which he was pretty happy about :). All good. But it turns out you can’t add additional cardholder cards onto the virgin app - which therefore means there is no option to block/freeze them (in case, for instance, my son decides to go and have a blow out on his card, courtesy of my account!). Nor are transactions on the additional card notified to the app user’s phone. Please Virgin can you fix this.

Todays update has definitely improved the user experience and I can now see multiple promotional rates taken and their balance for the card.

App has scaling issues with iPhone
App scaling is weird in some pages, can’t see account information because it cuts off top of the page as top banner covers the account information content..
App support Customer service response was generic and unhelpful with zero ability to respond with more information, provided links are incorrect, vague and unhelpful too..
In App Purchase Approval - Annoyed Customer
I have raised this with Virgin cc support services twice before many months ago and it still won’t work on my iphone14. I am asked to approve a purchase “in app” I open the app the approval page is there I press the button to approve and I just get a spinning symbol which never stops spinning and won’t go away. I then have to go back to the retailers page and ask to approve with a one time pass code - this then works and the sale goes through but in the Virgin app the approvals page is still there complete with never ending spinning symbol!! Don’t tell me to reload the app I have several times and it still doesn’t work and is up to date. In this day and technical age it is extremely annoying that this can’t be put right.
At least the developer replied. However it’s obvious that they consider that it’s a user problem - it’s not - I have a modern phone an up to date Virgin app, and in app purchase approval doesn’t work. I have other credit cards which I use on my phone and in app purchase approval with these works seamlessly every time. It’s an issue which should be investigated!!
