As someone who's struggling with low vision and as novel hobbyist this has been a God send, and it's an indispensable part of my life. 100% recommend it and stand behind this product and developer, they're quick to always fix and help whenever the need arises.
subscription required to remove ads
This app spams you with ads every minute, it’s incredibly annoying and makes the app borderline unusable. Then it has the audacity to ask you If I’d like to spend money on the app and not even own it. What is wrong with people trying to make a quick buck with subscription services? I have used many similar tts apps in the past, this may be the worst one I’ve used so far, Impressive.
Super useful for ADHD'ers
I haven't used a text to speech tool before now but it is game changer for me as I have ADHD and a sensory based nervous system. The audio means my brain can naturally stay a lilttle bit more focused than if I was reading. It also allows me to speed up the audio to match my cognitive processing speed at the time, and allows me to multitask and be more productive (I mainly use this for marking univeristy assignments so I can listen, which I write feedback).
Reason for 4 and not 5 stars is that I can never get it to process/use PDF's properly. When I copy and paste the text, it reformats the text and adds in a bunch of spaces, which then make each line be read as a paragraph. Works super well when copying and pasting text from a word document though.
Great App
This is a great app for listening to articles while traveling or commuting!
Top pick!
I’ve tried other paid text to speech apps and by far this one is my favorite! Not just because of the app’s functionality but also the app developers customer service. They are very responsive to inquiries and suggestions on ways to improve their product. Well worth the price. I’m extremely pleased.
ux is atrocious
The interace is aweful. It uses it's own menu bar of icons on the bottom of the application which I do not know what half of them are. It's essentially a Chrome browser embeeded an application with some buttons tacked on at the bottom. It uses very little standard ui/ux conventions for the macos menu items, ie File/Open are not used at all. To simply bring in pdf files you have to go to the "saved content" window, add a pdf to it. It doesn't have a table of contents or a thumbnail list. As soon as you resize the window, it resets the pdf back to page 1.
If you haven't paid for the tool many buttons will force you to a purchase window which you can't get out of without force quiting the app. Once you get to the reading part it is fine but the experience just trying to demo the product before paying for it is less then desirable.
App is very hard to use
Not worth downloading hard to use and it glitches.
It tries to charge you premium for voices it doesn't even own
It charges premium for voices it stole from Amazon, google, Microsoft, and open AI. How y'all gonna charge for something that isn't even yours. 🤦🏽♀️
A great tool to make my time more proficient
I save so much time being able to multitask with this tool! I can research information on any website and most of the time we out loud can read it to me. Allowing me to get additional task completed. Also I lose my patience when trying to read written words and usually get headaches whenever my brain feels like I’ve been reading to much. Headaches are most like caused from bending my neck to look down and read text from website articles on my phone or tablet. So web out loud is literally saving me from my neck pain too! WebOutLoud allows me to read or aka listen to more articles than what my own reading speed is, this allows me to get more done. It is so very easy to use also! I simply share and open the webpage I’m reading into WebOutLoud and hit play. So there is no copy, cut and pasting into another app that will read text for me. It’s much more simple just click one icon and open that webpage up in WebOutLoud.
Very useful, time saving app! I love it!
