Whisper Memos - Speech to text

Now able to set the language so autodetect no longer incorrectly transcribes my recordings in Welsh or Chinese. Thank you!

I’ve been looking for an iOS app that uses the open AI whisper algorithm, v2 large, at highest quality. I’m wanting to create transcripts of audio for my elderly dad for when his age related hearing loss means he can’t make out what’s being said in reverberant situations. I have tried the whisper algorithm which is remarkable. My test piece is a recording of a eulogy from a funeral in a reverberant church spoken in English which I made some while back on a phone. The full precision algorithm is word perfect so I had high hopes. This app however is junk. It presented me with many paragraphs of I presume - Welsh- literally. Not one word in English. Sadly complete junk. Presumably the developer opted for a lower compute requirement instance of the algorithm with the result it doesn’t work in difficult situations. Ah well. “Delete”. How do I know the free open sourced open ai algorithm is so good ? By using a different iOS app “whisper transcribe” which I would happily use but there are a couple of major bugs that stop it working most of the time that the developer isn’t addressing, but when it does process a recording - it is astonishing with near 100% transcription accuracy.

Love the lock screen widget, the apple watch app, so the dedication to getting to record as easy as possible. Really improved my ability to get ideas down out and about. Thanks Vojtech!

I’ve personally been thinking I need to make an Apple Watch app with whisper because whisper is so good it changes the came for voice capture on the go. Luckily Vojtech did it here. Will be the reason I buy an Apple Watch.

No need to rely on email for the transcription but it's a backup route. Transcription is very good and auto punctuates competently, largely overcoming slight drawback of not recognising punctuation.

This app is sitting in my Taskbar among Phone, browser and time management app. I guess there's no need to say anything else. ;-) My rating: 99/100 and the last point already sent to developers as improvement recommendation. For me, WM is the pick of the year.

Absolutely amazing.

Easy to see Whisper Memos as part of my going forward workflow. Still testing out its limits. Kudos to the development team for its dual simplicity and span of uses.

I’m a huge fan of Whisper Memos. I am regularly in situations with my hands full or in the middle of something and being able to quickly capture a voice note and close the app and know that I’ll have my transcript waiting for me in the email inbox when I get to my desk is one of my favorite pieces of magic these new technologies have provided

I have tested three AI transcription apps, and Whisper Memos is the clear winner for its smooth and accurate performance. Some may not appreciate its emailing feature, but that is precisely what helps you remember what you recorded. P.S. I used Whisper Memos to dictate my notes for this review.
