Didn’t even last a day.

My main issue is with the Earn program. I understand needing to navigate to the Acorn app and click an Earn link for the store or service that one is purchasing. It’s an added step but that’s okay. My problem is that the link takes the user to a browser instead of the store/service’s app. For example, there is supposed to be a $2 reward for using Instacart. I use Instacart 2-4 times a week. I have the Instacart app. I am not going to shop in a browser when I have the app. And yes, I have the most recent version of the apps, I tried restarting my phone, etc. Unfortunately when I contacted support I got a bunch of copy/paste paragraphs on what Earn is, etc. I know what it is. The support person failed to answer my question. I repeated my question. Got another generic answer. I repeated my question again and was told it’s a technical issue and I needed to perform troubleshooting. Then I was asked by the agent if there was anything else I needed help with. ..what?? Yes! You can tell me what to do to troubleshoot! Ridiculous. I immediately closed my account. To many other options to waste time on this.

I was randomly locked out of the app even though I have used it literally every day for years. Like “account does not exist” locked out. When I tried to log in, I was directed to set up a new account, which did not work. It was a scary response to “where did my money go?” The online AI help was useless—very general information only. Took a long time to get a live human—so long I started to worry about the safety of my investments. Do not ask me to trust you with my life savings then treat me like a 5-year-old. If I am smart enough to use a financial app then I do not need the suggested article that tells me that if my password or login is wrong, I will not be able to access my account. I passed tech 101. The reason I need real customer service is because I cannot solve my own problems. When I finally did get through to live chat, that person was confused too—further eroding trust. Finally, I was directed to make a phone call and sit on hold. So, now who is failing at tech 101? No one wants to talk on the phone. Ever. And how is sitting on hold with bad background music a technological innovation worthy of a monthly fee? The customer support person on the phone was rude. Plus, the call quality, the yelling in the background of the call center, and her very heavy accent made me have to ask her to repeat everything. I felt bad, but a new-to-English speaking person should speak slowly or at least be understanding if they are asked to repeat or clarify. No one in France would understand me because I only know french at a basic level and lack experience speaking it. I would be humble, not mad. I legitimately could not hear or understand her words because the room was so loud. Her tone was that I am the idiot because I am worried that the money app that I use every single day randomly locked me out. She kept interrupting me, as if I am dumb for being concerned about my life savings*. [*Do not ever put your life savings in this app! Use it for fun money only!] Within 24-hours there are issues again. None of my transfers are going through. The app just says OPS! TRY AGAIN. I did not change anything. I logged in on the same device that I always use. No updates. Nothing new on my end. It is simply not working. I know bugs happen but it is your job to keep all the tech in the background running smoothly. This is not a donut and coffee points app. It is an app for highly-regulated and complex stock trading, investing, and finances. I cannot be worried that you are bad

I got this account when I was 18 I’m now 21. I started investing haven’t had any problems yet, it makes it so easy to save. I even made my son his account for when he comes of age. I did get a notification at some point saying someone tried to get into my account but since I set up two step verification. I get an email notification giving me a code to my account. obviously, the person couldn’t get into my account since they didn’t have a code. I 100% suggest their 2 step verification log in. They definitely make investing easy and it’s at a reasonable price as well. They also give you tips and articles and explain everything they invest into, plus a hypothetical idea of how much you would have through out the years. Definitely good for a beginner. I’m a stay at home mom so being able to invest into the accounts even if it’s simply 5$ months helps. Also knowing im able to give him a better start to life and not be in a position like his parents, who had to do everything from the ground up.

They hold your money for personal information

After years of consistent personal investments Acorn decided to lock my account for no reason (they could not give me a reason). In order for me to “unlock” my own account I had provide more personal information that I never consented to. They asked for a selfie, bank statement, utility bill, social security card. This is NOT because I forgot my username and password. This app gets your money then holds it hostage in exchange for invasive personal information once you want access to your OWN money. Stay away.

Why is it not allowing me to take my money out

Takes your money and locks you out of your account.

I have been locked out of my account and unable to access the money it it for months, because it’s a game to their customer service team at this point. I have tried multiple times, uploaded documents, which they rotate between asking for bank statements and a selfie with your ID. Biggest scam investment app.

It’s a good app

They will just randomly lock you out completely and demand information. Fine for fraud defense but not being able to login at all……
