Want to love it so much

Linton Smith on

Australia

I’m pretty annoyed and reading the reviews has made me a bit more annoyed- I just want to use the x and y axis function to make my pattern repeat and it should take a few minutes really. But when I put the exact number I want the item to move to (so the edge of the pattern repeats), illustrator changes the number either a bit less or a bit more. It’s driving me nutty. I simply can finish it on the iPad right now. Sometimes it works when I group all the objects together, I turned off and on different combos of all the snap to grid or whatever to no avail. I hope I am doing it wrong, so I can figure out how to do it but it really should not be be such a secret. Also, it still crashes, freezes and glitches. And app subscription too expensive considering the issues. I don’t like how limited the brushes are in terms of tapered ends only for the blob brush- but the blob brush is risky as it is a shape and not a mailable line and it merges with other blob brush lines. And that when I modify the width profile for the pencil it does it once and then the next stroke it reverts back to default. Sometimes the colour picker doesn’t work at all and only shows grey as a result. That’s is a kick to the face when it happens… See, I need to use the app version as I have to use the Apple pen and I don’t like drawing tablets.

Want to love it but sub-par

Crispe Phillips on

Australia

Sluggish performance, disappointing missing features compared to the desktop version and iPad competitors, and buggy. Really wanted to love the Illustrator iPad version as the desktop version is my most used piece of software but this ain’t it unfortunately. I’ve been using it on and off since closed beta and have been disappointed with the progress.

Keeps cutting out

I am doing this design concept and considering I’m paying for it I’m so upset it still cuts out :(

Awesome app.

I don't know what people are complaining about, this is an awesome app. I can now design my customers artwork for vinyl cutting, and laser engraving in the comfort of my lounge, or even at my favorite coffee shop. I'm running it on my 2020 iPad Pro 11" I'm guessing the people complaining are using older ipads

Freezing

Every time trying to view the full image or zoom it freezes and don’t unfreeze when closed app

Cartoon drawing

Carmel Reid on

Australia

I bought Adobe Illustrator because I draw cartoons in black and white on paper and needed to create the same ideas in colour. The introduction videos have shown me how to do all the amazing things with colour images but it’s taken me a while to get to know the more simple tools for drawing with an Apple Pencil. Fortunately the representative images are pretty easy to understand so I’ve worked my way through them, but it would have been good to have seen a simple freehand drawing video for the basics.

Half baked? More like raw

AngryLucio on

Littered with glitches which require a full app reset every single time. Adobe being the classic money grabbing company they always have been. Don’t have a subscription based model if you can’t even get close to what other single purchase options have. Would love to know when the full version is going to be released.

Snapping feature needs more

Cantankerous Cookie on

Australia

Works well but I rely on being able to use the snap to grid feature with the pen tool, which I can’t use on the iPad. Would be perfect if this feature was built.
