Description

Andante is a music practice journal that helps you stay organized, consistent, and motivated with your practice. Track practice time for any instrument like violin, piano, guitar, and more. Improve your practice with tools like timers and metronome, and stay motivated with streaks, goals, and charts.

Andante is a musical term that describes a simple, walking pace that feels calm and serene while always moving forward with intention. That idea is the core of this app: a music practice journal that promotes calm, meditative practice as you progress through your musical journey.

Andante Practice Journal provides one place to keep a log of your practice sessions as well as a journal where you can write about anything on your mind, so you don’t have to keep track of everything in your head. You can track your mood and focus to identify patterns in your practicing so you can achieve the most meditative, productive practice possible. You can keep yourself motivated to keep moving forward with intention by setting goals and seeing your statistics visualized. Lastly, you can improve your musicianship and practice with simple tools like a metronome, audio recorder, and drone tuner.

ABOUT THE DEVELOPER
My name is Miles, and I’m a musician who recently graduated college. I originally started making Andante to help myself with my violin practice, as I found writing down the times and some notes on my practice sessions helped me stay motivated and less stressed. I hope that Andante can help with your practice journey!

This helped me so much with my practice and I actually practiced well and improved all thanks to Adante

The best practice app I have encountered!

drummermoo on

I’d been recommended this app by my Viola teacher after she saw it on the blog “life from the Viola section”. I’ve loved it ever since! I like how easy everything is and how it has a simple layout which makes it easy to navigate. I like also that I can use it while having ForScore open too. Amazing!

Perfect!

I stumbled across this app while browsing the App Store and I have to say that it’s amazing. I’ve used it nonstop the past few days with piano practice. If you’re looking for a way to record session times, take notes or figure out when you’re at your best or what you may need to work on then download this app. Record audio along with your sessions and you can look back over it to hear your progress, extremely helpful for anyone starting out.

Andante has many functions that help musicians practice their instruments easily. It has been a really big help with my practice as it has a tuner and you can write notes in it. I highly recommend you this app.

Amazing!!!

This is a very good app that helps you with your practice! It also has a lot of great features so you can track your progress, see how well you practice, and more! I highly recommend this to all instrumentalists.

Good simple app

Really great for a beginner. It has everything you need. I like the recording feature so I can hear my progress. It’s also really handy being able to set a countdown timer whilst also counting up during practice. The metronome feature is great too. I only need it for one instrument which is possible with the free version but paid for the upgrade after using for two weeks because I was so happy with the app.

Great app but somewhat lacking in features

Governor Tarkin on

Andante is one of the better music practice apps out there. It has a simple but pleasing interface, runs very smoothly, and is reasonably priced. It also has some welcome features such as an in-built recorder, the ability to track your mood and focus level, and of course journal entries. The main feature that the app is lacking is the ability to track your progress across different categories of study. Currently, the app only graphs when and how long you practice for. What you want though as a serious musician is to be able to keep track of your progress within your scales, sight reading, repertoire, aural skills, improvisation, transcription, or any other area of music that is relevant to you. Furthermore, since no one has the time to go through all their scales or all the pieces they know everyday, etc, you need subcategories for each of the main categories. For example, if you have 20 minutes a day to dedicate to scales you might run all 24 major and minor scales one day, all whole-tone and diminished/octatonic the next, maybe do your scales in 16ths one day and sextuplets the next, etc. If you have an hour for repertoire, you might might focus on baroque pieces one day, and romantic the next. Or blues one day, then bebop. Again, whatever is relevant to you. Having the ability to keep track of and graph each practice session via not just the overall length but also by the time spent in each category of study, as well which subcategories were used for each main category, would truly take this app to the next level!

Great App

The app is very productive, and has a simple design.I have a question, How do you turn it into dark mode? Thank You. I really enjoyed this app, and it helped me improve and stay motivated.

I practice lots now

Such a great way to stay motivated! What would be nifty is a social element - where you can follow other people and support their progress!
