Description

Andante is a music practice journal that helps you stay organized, consistent, and motivated with your practice. Track practice time for any instrument like violin, piano, guitar, and more. Improve your practice with tools like timers and metronome, and stay motivated with streaks, goals, and charts.

Andante is a musical term that describes a simple, walking pace that feels calm and serene while always moving forward with intention. That idea is the core of this app: a music practice journal that promotes calm, meditative practice as you progress through your musical journey.

Andante Practice Journal provides one place to keep a log of your practice sessions as well as a journal where you can write about anything on your mind, so you don’t have to keep track of everything in your head. You can track your mood and focus to identify patterns in your practicing so you can achieve the most meditative, productive practice possible. You can keep yourself motivated to keep moving forward with intention by setting goals and seeing your statistics visualized. Lastly, you can improve your musicianship and practice with simple tools like a metronome, audio recorder, and drone tuner.

FEATURES
• Practice live with a timer, metronome, done tuner, and audio recorder or manually add sessions with ease.
• See your progress on specific pieces of music.
• Track your mood and focus and see charts that help you understand your practicing.
• Streak counter to motivate you to practice every day.
• Daily practice goals take streaks even further by setting how long you want to practice each day. See your daily goal progress on your Home Screen with Home Screen widgets.

• iCloud sync between your iPhone and iPad
• Minimalist design. It's important that nothing gets in the way of your practicing. Andante is designed to be as clean and simple as possible while still providing robust features.

ABOUT THE DEVELOPER
My name is Miles, and I’m a musician who recently graduated college. I originally started making Andante to help myself with my violin practice, as I found writing down the times and some notes on my practice sessions helped me stay motivated and less stressed. I hope that Andante can help with your practice journey!

No practice routine planning function

lemur katja on

I like the inclusion of a metronome, tuner and journal, and best of all it encourages me to record myself more. The big downside is that there’s no planning or goal setting more specific than a target daily practice time. I’m someone who really needs to plan their practice ( and practice their plan) to get a well balanced session that makes the most of my 2hrs a day. Apps that allow me to create a checklist practice routine for each day of the week to work through ( like Practice Lover) or save multiple routine options to choose from ( like TuneUpgrade) really motivate me to push through my whole practice and don’t allow me to neglect areas I don’t like but know I need. I can easily noodle around with my instrument for hours every day. What I need from an app is to assure I get a really well-structured two hours in most days, so I can feel more relaxed and confident going into my lesson every week.

Great app

The Andante app has helped me get more out of my practice and it is worth upgrading to the full app for all the features. I also really like how easy it is to use. Before Andante, I would have a practice journal, metronome and voice recording app open simultaneously while practicing. Switching between apps was a waste of time and could be distracting. Andante simplified and streamlined my practice experience. It also helps me stay organized and accountable with practice. The reminder and streak tracker widget motivate me to play every day. I’ve been using Andante since Christmas and throughly enjoy it!

Looks amazing. Checked out a few other music journaling apps and wasn’t too stoked on their platform. With a single payment to upgrade, I was more than happy to upgrade to pro! So many cool features, an amazing calendar, recordings, notes... Super sweet. All that’s missing is a way to connect with friends for that accountability/competitive feel. Great job. 👏

Amazing App, The Best Music Practice Tracker!!

daniel_1010 on

This app is fantastic. While I love it, of course as with any app there are things I could change. But the core of it is a super simple well laid out UI that works great to get out of the way so you can get to practicing. It’s too bad there is a negative review..I have had no issues syncing over 4 months of use so far and even using the iOS on the Mac too. The best part about how this app is setup is that you can make different profiles for each of your core practices. I have some for RCM levels, a piece I am learning or scales for example. That way I track each area of my playing individually. BUT when you click on all profiles, then go to stats you can see your combined minutes and session from all profiles. I love this setup. It also has a counter on iPhone island when you go out of the app on a session which is helpful. Miles is super helpful if you have issues too. Get this app if you want to track your progress!! Thanks Miles!

Wanted to love it

App did not sync properly across devices using same Apple ID, tried everything. Come to find out it just deleted all my practice logs going back years. Very sad, wouldn’t invest too much time and effort into this as it could just wind up disappearing!

Perfect app for tracking my practice!

Love this app, exactly what I was looking for.

Great app

Perfect

Nice!

SoundHounds on

Pro: easy to use, stable, great all around, able to export data Con: Current time and duration time could be displayed side by side otherwise it is just great I have only used the free version but will upgrade, not so much for the added functions but to support the developer. Nice job.
