This app sometimes works. But mostly, it doesn’t. If you use the Arte Card for transit, you have to fetch a new QR code every time you board transit. (Each code is good for a few minutes.) Unfortunately, this means you have to: - log in to the card — it doesn’t save login state, so you have to do this every time, and it takes about a minute - click “My Passes” — this will take about a minute and will give an error about half the time - click the pass in question — this will also take about a minute and give an error about half the time - click the “transit” button — this will also take about a minute but never gave me any errors Thus, in total, every time you want to use transit, you will have to spend about five minutes above ground (in the case of the metro, because there’s no cell coverage underground in Naples) clicking around on your phone in frustration. Now, it should be said: pretty much every transit stop in Naples has human staffers who will, if you merely wave your phone at them and say in frustration, “ARTE CARD!”, shrug and cheerily wave you through the turnstile. The Arte Card is a great price for museum entry alone, and for museum entry, the QR code is static, so once you manage to load it successfully you can just take a screenshot and never use the app again. But for transit, the app is soul crushing.
