Very difficult to enjoy.
Pompous and exaggerated. The events and figures are scary enough to speak for themselves, there is no need for embellishment. Very difficult writing style, very American-nationalist view, worsened by the overly dramatic, breathless reading. There is some actual information, but it is buried under guesses about how much people loves their Petri-dishes and how they searched and found death, and similar. Most of all many, many phrases and words, which seem overly poetic and clumsy. This impression isn’t helped by the fact that they are repeated over and over again. It does not read as scientific and is somewhat cringy for a reader with a science background.
Incredibly frustrating to buy anything
When i look up an authort, its impissible to find what i want to buy. I keep getting recommended these other language versions. There is no way to stop it, it is disgraceful that this still cant be filtered, as i see references to it from 5 years ago. The only reason i am still a patron at this company is lack of alternatives. I don’t even care if they’re better at this point

The app is great for users, but horrifying for authors
The app is great, and the selection is second to none. However, the way they underpay authors, and make life difficult for new ones is predatory and immoral. There seems to be people working at this company who don’t like certain subjects and they harass these authors with false accusations of violations of the terms of service, with no documentation and withholding of royalty payments so that they have to get lawyers to get their royalties. Horrible treatment
Poor selection of books
Hardly any books are included with the already quite expensive subscription. At these prices one might as well just purchase the books rather than use audible. Beyond the poor quality of the service itself the app is quite bad. There’s no filtering in most menus, and it’s quite infuriating not being able to remove books from recommendations nor seeing only included content. Almost as if Audible doesn’t want to highlight how little they actually offer.
So buggy. Bad search.
This app is failing in several places. 1) search for an author to find all the books they wrote: If you finally manage to get a list that doesn’t include other authors you will not be able to filter language, so you will have a mess of different versions of the authors books in a bunch of languages you don’t understand. 2) try to look up details of the book you are listening to, the app sends you to a completely different book. (In my case Will Durst that I don’t remember ever adding to my library) Then go to that book in order to delete it, so the problem is fixed, and there are books from the actual library listed.. just useless!!! The search function is so bad, everything takes forever.. I’ve used Audible since 2009, I don’t remember it evening this messy!!
