Backgammon for iPad & iPhone Reviews

Fun to play but …

Jazzmin07 on

United Kingdom

iOS user. App functions well no issues there. However, after a while I started to question how fair the dice rolling is as it seems that the “AI” always seems to roll what’s needed but not the user. Yes I am winning games but it feels frustrating when dices always seem to roll more advantageous for the AI:( . I do understand that the developer needs to monetise through ads but after every single game it becomes annoying and one loses pretty quick the patience hence me deleting it. Would have actually paid for an ad free version but it this option isn’t available. What a pity because I love the game and would have paid for it.

Fixed

If the dice aren’t fixed.I played a full came, my opponent throw three doubles I didn’t get one double.

Game is rigged

Rarahbeth on

United Kingdom

Dice are loaded, when off the board I threw a 6 + 3, 10 times in a row not getting on once while he threw a 6+1 and got passed my block. Any player named Guest gets the perfect throws every time while you get the same dice throws over and over and over, the odds of throwing 6 + 3 ten times in a row is so rare that this game has to be rigged

Dice a bit ‘iffy

The dice isn’t random - both you and your opponents get the right dice at just the right times. Developers- this ain’t luck of the dice 😀

Not Random

This game is a farce and not worthy of your time. It’s default is to cheat.

Ridiculous cheating!!! - single-player!

If you are looking for an enjoyable backgammon game to play against the app, this is not it!! I thought I had found one when I first started playing this but it didn’t take long to realise the game does not like to lose. It throws doubles for itself just exactly when it needs them and if you are on the bar and need to get back in play, forget it. It will not give you the necessary dice values until it has successfully populated its home board. Ironically, when it has to get counters back in play, it miraculously is able to throw the correct dice values!! Unbelievable. On more than one occasion, due to the fact I did not trust it any longer, I carefully counted the dice values it would require before exposing one of my counters and suddenly the app displayed its inability to count (it needed a five to land on my counter, threw a six and still landed on me and put me on the bar!!!). The coders of this game really do not understand the meaning of ‘random’. I’m a good player but this app is a ridiculous cheat. I’m leaving this comment just before I delete the app.

Once great now terrible

JohnOK on

This was great when I first started playing but now it seems there are so random moves that happen all the time, my opponents get the exact dice they need every time. I also went 65 games in a row without winning the opening throw - that just doesn’t happen. If the game can’t be relied up there is no point in playing. Sadly I’ll have to delete, but this seems to be a trend with all Backgammon games on iOS.

Excellent

Dice rolls are not random

Rumpusmac on

Algorithm to favour players with less coins or trailing in the game. Would avoid this

Best backgammon but…

FriskinC on

United Kingdom

This is the best backgammon game, as there is no hint of results being rigged. Also, there ads, but not intrusive. But, since last update the darn app won’t find online opponents! Clearly this is an issue - fix it pls! Then everyone can enjoy the game again!
