I am a big fan of this app which I use with Navionics on my iPad. I’ve just bought a new one because after years of heavy use the battery stopped charging.

Hopefully fixed!

I had endless problems with this app previously but now all seems to work fine. I did have to delete it and reinstall (which also deleted the GPS data), but that seems to have solved the problems.

Having bought my iPad mini and downloaded several city guides for Euopean capitals I was disappointed to find no GPS in my iPad and could only use the maps when connected to the internet - not very helpful. My next European trip in April will not have the advantage of a great small but powerful BAD ELF gps and Navfree maps. Wonderful. Thank you BadElf team. Barrie Walker

This is a great device to have for the iPod touch 4 ( running ios 5.0.1) It appears a large number of apps will work with this device (even those not mentioned on the website, although a little expensive, it is well worth the money to have the Bad Elf GPS. Highly recommend if GPS is needed. Of course a app with preinstalled maps is essential. Nav free is one of these and recommended.. A few apps allow you to download parts of maps, but these are normally very high in internal memory. Useful for Astronomy, walk/run and even in car speed and GPS location apps. So far my experience has allowed 95% of the GPS functionality to work on apps downloaded. The only draw Back is the device does easily slip from the bottom of the iPod touch when doing walk/running apps. Make sure it is very secure if you wish to record your stats etc. I am very impressed.

Needs far more functionality

Would be nice if the app showed the GPS satellite status (like the DUAL GPS Status Tool) - i.e. satellite number, signal strength, satellite positions etc

I've had it for years. I keep it in my Jeep, connected to my LiFePO4 off grid power system. Folks who are in my Jeep are welcome to pair to it. It blows Apple GPS out of the water because no cell tower dependancy!
